I really like seeing the structure of the events laid out ahead of time. It will be a huge help in seeing the overall big picture.

July 22nd sounds like a good date to me.

Now that there is a date, we need to talk about specifics. I say another BBQ and cruise. That way we dont have to sit around and wait for a restaurant to serve us. I think that the park I used last time worked out really well. It has a ton of parking and lots of room to walk around and scope out everyone's ride. Lots of room for trailered 900+ HP evos, haha. Plus I already know the hoops i'll have to go through to reserve the pavillion.

I will begin contacting Buschur and AMS to see if I can get that to attend. That would kick ass!

Please continue to discuss what you want to do!!

Ok guys, Closed the other Kzoo meet thread per moneypit's request.
Here are the comments up to that time:

For all the new people since last summer (there are a bunch of you) I planned a Kalamazoo evo/lancer meet and I thought it went pretty well. Anyways, the time has come to start planning for round #2. Maybe this time i'll accept donations cause it cost more than i had anticipated last time ;)

Joe mentioned that this was brought up last week in Westland. I need a date to start the ball rolling. I also need ideas as to what people want to do at the meet. To me, driving around in a line of 12 or 13 evos was pretty cool. Do people wanna BBQ, cruise around or what?

Next week i'm going down to Buschur Racing to have some work done and i'd like to have a date for BR to reserve so they can come up to our meet. He said as long as they have notice, they will come. I'm gonna hold them to that, haha.

So, please start a discussion about when/where/what the next Kzoo meet should be about.

Lets make this a big ass meet!!!! I'll put in the work if people show up!!!

how about june 3rd or june 10th, i am hoping for an early summer date, dont know if i ll be around in late aug or sept. mothers day weekend is a big car show in coldwater, and june 23rd-24th is a big show and cruise in st. iggy(across the mac bridge). john you know i ll help with funding, arranging this meet.

i am defiantly in...I cant think off the top of my head exactly what dates are already taken for shows but i am definatly up for going....and u can count me in for money too

I would like to see AL from DynoFlash come, by that time I will be ready for a flash. Kalamazoo is alot closer than going to Bushur for me.

Well you have part of the planning done already. Same park and people BYOF. Make a list of who brings what that way your not footing the entire bill. It worked when I had a picnic. :wink:

OK, people start signing up and list what you are going to bring. The location will again be Ramona Park on Sprinkle Road in Kalamazoo. I will supply burgers, buns and condiments.

Last year I rented a pavillion where we grilled and grubbed. It worked out pretty well and i'd like to rent it again if people think i should. It cost about $100 that I will front again and if people want to pitch in I wont stop them this time, haha.

After a time gets sorted out I will make a post on EvoM about the meet.

I think the meet on Westnedge was cool. I would prefer that would be around 3-4pm and then head off to the park say at around 5pm and then get out of there by 8, and go cruise.

I am not against combining some type of other event into this either. I want it to be worthwhile if Buschur/AMS/Any other Vendor comes out. This requires some more planning I have not done yet.

haha, maybe i should just do that. i'd have to ask the wife, but she wouldn't care. i would be really popular with the neighbors then. i do admit i'd love to see a shit ton of evos on around the house. there could be an official GT4 video game contest with my wheel/pedal setup i got, haha. i live on a really long block, so i don't think parking would be an issue. i could get some of my neighbors to let you guys park in their driveways too. plus it would save $125.00, haha.

we could always travel to one of many good photo destinations to take photos and go on a cruise at once.

what does everyone else think?

edit:

I just phoned in a reservation to get the same pavillion/parking that we had last year. I have two weeks to fill out the paperwork and pay the city. So that's how long we have to decide where it should be.

I'd like to get it resolved fairly quickly so i can make a post on evom to try to get some other involvement. although if the same people that came out to lansing come over my way, it should be a really great time.

ahaha, i saw the pic......

this is gonna be at the park. it would be too hard for people to find my house and cell phones hardly work out my way.

so i figure it will go like this:

-meet and grill and BS and take pics at Ramona Park. I have the pavillion reserved from last year.
-go on a drive, take some more video/pics.
-end up at my house and party til you wanna leave.

that way we can still have the convienient meet spot and still piss my neighbors off by parking 20-30 evos on my street.

i will make a post on evom in the "midwest" region. bump it up if need be over there. the official official super offical signup will begin now. please only sign up if you are sure to attend. i bought way too much food last year and still have some frozen in my fridge as of now. it WILL cost you $5 to enter the park this year. i talked them out of it last year, but they wouldn't budge this year.

so, it will start at noon, saturday july 22nd. place will be Ramona Park on Sprinkle Road. Kalamazoo, MI. there will be the typical grilled food, chips, soda and condiments provided.

I will start a thread on the local site, and ask for the evo guys to convoy with. I know all of them around here, 10+. I don't know how long I am deleted, but I have something to say when I get back on, so might be OFF again. LOL
Why I got kicked off evom:

There was a post on the Supra forums, where Al was talking down about AMS and other tuners, and someone showed a photo of a MAP from one of his tunes, and it looked bad, and someone said their 8 year old could have done that. I didn't want someone who just got an evo to, after doing a search, and finding nothing "out of sorts" with Al, to get a tune without knowing ALL stuff. I wanted them to at least just "lock" the site, so it can be found by a newbie doing a search. At least this would make Al tighten up his ship, or lose future tunes. I dont know if this is isolated, or if they are all like that. Shiv started the thread, that same night it was GONE!! I have nothing bad to say about Al, and know people with his tune, who like it, so to each their own, but it should have been kept on evom. the proof was there in black and white, and not just conjecture or speculation.

Is the moderator "blonde" a female?? over on Evom?

Yeah, no motor is not a good excuse. Coming down with a "touch" of Ebola or the bird flu might be an exceptable excuse to miss out, but I doubt it.

Going thru AA for sure. (straight drive west, Dude! I'm in Roseville, 696/Gratiot area.)

Redline? Not sure yet: POPO situation has not been good lately, and is getting worse - no place to hang out afterwards. Cruising after the meet isn't much of an option either, what with all the cops knowing that I'm that bright Yellow slow Evo & the easiest target... :mad:

...and I have to finish getting ready to paint my garage tomorrow, son has Karate tonight, etc.

Son might get his next belt tomorrow: an 11 year old junior Black Belt ?!?
Yet another component in my home/Evo protection system: pitbulls... children trained in the martial arts... they look so innocent, yet instantly obey me without question... :p hehehe

Ah ya totally, when I lived in AA I worked in Madison Heights, I know that 696 drive quite well.

Humm, maybe Ill put my silencer on my exhaust. Last time I was in Ypsi I got pulled over for being "loud". What are the busting people for? Not hanging out the the parking lot right?

Okay I am back now from my trip to NYC and finally have some time to sit down.
Well sign me up! It should just be my girlfriend and I, possible a friend but he would probally be a last minute ride along.
It would be cool if the other A2 and Ypsi people wanted to meet up for a caravan down. I am located on the west side only about a half mile from 94 and Zeeb Rd so it is on the way.

A bunch of us will meet up somewhere near Ann Arbor and head off from there. Spot isn't determined yet, but I'm thinking that the TA truck stop off the Baker exit, or a gas station off of Zeeb (both just to the West of AA off of 94)

Just razzin' ya - I know how long it 'usually' takes.

Been to Kzoo plenty of times: have relatives there, wife & I show our APBT's (Kzoo is UKC headquarters & has largest shows), I picked up t-case seals from TRE...

When I went to MOD last fall, I made it from my house to Kzoo in exactly 1hr 15 min. :p 'Normally', I'm at least 40 minutes east of AA at 70~75mph... Ain't gonna do that again!!

For me, AA is usually a fairly straight shot down I-696/I-275, but massive construction zones are scheduled for next weekend: if you plan on taking I-75 south to I-696 west/I-275 south, remember that the 696/Telegraph interchange is SNAFU!

For me at least, it may be better to take I-94 to AA...

696/Telegraph is easily passable right now (3 lands in each direction), however, m14 is useless. Best bet would probably be to take 696 to 96, then down 23 to M14. Every other way, including 94, has construction backups.

OK, i need some input.

I have the driving/cruise route all planned out. Included are a few stops to make sure everyone can stay as close together as possible. Each group will have a kzoo native in charge of getting the out of towners to the meet spots. maps would be a bitch to make and i've already got enough time/money into this. there will be enough people from in town to ensure everyone doesn't get lost.

Also, we will be driving through/stoping at the main WMU campus. I plan on taking some pics at a newly finished roundabout. I'd like to get all the evos (yeah lancers too ;) ) on the roundabout and snap some pics. I think that would be pretty cool and unique. It also might be a pain in the ass. We can decide whether to try it or not when we stop at a WMU student lot to let the group catch up.

Anyways, the main photo taking spot will be at the WMU engineering campus. It will also serve as a meeting spot. There is a great parking garage that will be a nice neutral backdrop to some great group shots.

Now this is what I need input on. Should we drive more after that and end up at some sort of restaurant? Or do people want to drive back to my house and just hang out, then maybe go get something for dinner later on. I don't know how long people plan on staying. If people wanna just hang out at my house, that is fine. I'll have to make preperations though and the wife is already asking me about it. I'd get a keg but I don't want people to drink and then send them home on a 3 hour drive.

Basically i'm asking how people wanna finish off the day. Please respond with opinions!!

the engineering campus is a brand new entirely seperate place. it's not by the main WMU campus. it's where drake road dead ends by parkview.

Wayside is a great idea. the lot is huge, the place is frickin huge. tons of space/things to do inside. plus it's pretty nice inside. chicken nachos are the best, haha. that could work out. easy access to the highway for leaving too.

Smoked and everyone else - I have good news and bad news.

Good news, I have new brake pads coming. GranSport GS5s front and rear - upgrades to my GS6s/Pro Ceramic Rears.

Bad news, I currently have no brakes. As of this morning I now am starting to grind on whats left of my front pads. I knew I was low, but that 600 mi trip last weekend was the last straw. Yep love those wear bars, thats whats grinding. So I dont eat my rotors anymore -- I cannot drive the Evo.

More bad news - since my pads are coming from Canada (Satisfied Brakes), they are taking their sweet time getting here. I do not have a positive ETA as of yet. UPS online states Friday, so Im hoping to get them in the morning delivery so I can install them then - if I get the afternoon guy I wont see them until last stop of the day - usually 6:30-7pm.

Fingers crossed.

Thanks Joe - Im hoping to have the GS5s soon. All 4 are down to their last bits. It only takes me an hour or two to do them right. So I will push to have them done. Bedding is pretty easy on the GSs, I will just have to not do any hardcore 100% stops for 500 miles - so down and back to Kzoo would be a good bedding in time.

I might have to bail on this one..........Not sure. I have been informed I need to have a photoshoot for Modified Magazine this weekend. Will get confirmation on time. We do need to scout for "indy" landmarks also. If I can't make this one, the next one on the list I am there. Someone should send me out a club sticker (white) if you have any. I will represent my home state of Michigan!!! I will let you know definitive tomorrow!!

Just tell them the photoshoot is happening in Michigan, and they'll have plenty of cars to choose from. I would think they'd jump all over it.

WORD OF WARNING FOR PEOPLE COMING EASTBOUND ON I-94:
There is construction on I-94 right before the sprinkle road exit. This is the biggest speedtrap ever created. YOU MUST DRIVE 45 MPH THROUGH THIS PART. I can't stress it enough. There are always cops there. I know two people who have got tickets there and its $400. That would suck.

It is where I69 meets I94. There is a prison there. I think it's 1 hour east of I69. so its a 2 hour there/back trip. thats why I thought i would wait for you guys to get to me. Hey all. I just registered over here. I'll probably be rolling with Smokedmustang either in his car or doin the two car convoy in my yellow '03.
I'm the photographer that he had mentioned earlier and I just wanted to see if anyone was interested in having photos done. Not to turn this into a sales pitch on my first post, but I am just trying to get a feel if I should come up with all my gear or leave it home.

my rates are reasonable, and the quality is outstanding. If you are interested and can let me know, I can provide more info and samples.

Anyway - hope to meet all of you guys in K'zoo.
(interestingly enough, I actually shot photos for the Radisson Plaza downtown about 2 years ago. so this will be my 2nd trip there)

But yeah definetly watch out on that speed trap. its vicious. and just to keep your eyes peeled the cop car i always see is a BLACK UNMARKED cop car. that fucker will do whatever is in his power to pull you over or be sneaky. i've seen him to some real sneaky/shady shit.

As far as pictures go... i recomend the WMU tech center. I've gotten some good pics from there. Hmm... what kinda historic kalamazoo things can we include...... hey lets park in front of a pfizer building! lol Whats left of 'em anywayz.

I'd say Bells but we wont fit all your guys evo's there. lol Good ole kzoo oberon.

I do have my bike though. But I dont think my 750 Honda Aero will keep up with the Evo train. Best I can hold is about 75-80 mph :( (I have taken it up past that, but lets just say she is no sport bike.)

But if someone is close to where I can meet up or pick me up on the way that would be awesome. Id like to come out there.

(Of course Id chip-in for gas - and Ill bring salsa and chips!)

Hey guys, I'm not going to make it. I seriously fucked up when I was adjusting my valve lash. The nut holding my gap gauge together and fell down an oil return channel. While I was trying to retrieve it with my stick magnet, the magnet fell apart, and I can't get it out :( The only way I can see to get it is to remove the head, which I don't know how to do. Tonight I'm going to remove the oil pan and see if I can get the magnet out from below, but I'm not hopeful. Most likely I'm going to have to have it towed to the dealership Monday morning and pay them a shit ton of money to pull the head and fix my mistake. :( I so want to cry right now.

If any of you know how to pull a head and are looking for something to do on Sunday, let me know.

We'll see. Have some things to do tonight. When I get home I'm going to pull my oil pan and try to get things out from underneath. I guess it's kinda a wait and see how I feel sort of thing. I'll have a loaner car from the in-laws, which I'll pick up tonight while asking them to loan me money to fix this. If I decide to go, I'll go to the meet spot and ride with someone from there.

thanks to everyone that attended the meet. it was a pretty good turnout for our neck of the woods. i hope everyone had as much fun as i did. it's really rewarding to see all the pics now! i really didn't get a chance to check out all the cars as much as i would have liked to.

my brother who was driving the black integra got some really cool video. he almost has it finished up. joe, is there a way he can get your video so he can integrate it into his? i think everyone will like watching it. well, except that SRT-4 guy who wanted to race, haha.

how come the GR guys left early? we really could have used more cars for the cruise/pics!!
