The Speedtrials events are open to anyone that pays to run. It is a well structured track day with plenty of track time on a safe track. A typical day will allow you to have 5, 20 minute track sessions
I will be there........................(I have been instructing with Speedtrials for about 5 years.)

I 'm off work but i imagine my car will be in piece's or not completed by april 8th.. I just purchased a 20g Evo IX w/ 10.5 hotside turbo & injectors. I have some other parts i m ordering soon new clutch, manual boost controller, & ported 02 housing..plus i m hoping to have the car tuned by AL in april at buschur if he's coming then.. all will be done with the help of Elhalisf..
So not knowing if my will be ready..i will have to ask Matt (afireinside) if he's going, if he is... i will probably ride shotgun with him if he's not going then I will pay half the fee of someone's fee if i can go as a passenger in the car around the track.. don't worry i don't weigh much... I eat plenty of dounuts too....
So count me in if I can ride shot gun... hoping they allow this? Allowed dropspeed?

April 8th will be here before we know it...Joe you should do one of those lists to see if we can get enough people (like you did for Westland)..looks like a lot of fun..
Come on people... go to the link.. provided and click "About Us" and watch the video...looks like a lot of fun..expensive but fun.. you can count me in if we get the required # of people..
Grant (G'sEvo) i might take you up on that offer.. Or if we can't ride double.. i ll bring the wife's slow 03 Mustang GT...and let you guys whomp on some american muscule with your EVo's..
Or if we can't get enough commitment for this event..we should have a plan B... Like a meet ...at this location/time.. & save this/event for a later date..
Just my 2 cents...

How do you register for the "Challenge Cup"?
Are you saying that this is a no go if there is not 10 people signed up from miEVO? Anyone post this on Evom or any of the Subie boards? Looks like there are 43 drivers signed up so far. Should be a blast!
I might attend, but I won't know until the Thursday before.

I copied this off the website:
"Q: If I bring a guest, can he ride in cars as a passenger?
A: No, for safety reasons, all groups are NOT allowed to take passengers. Instructors, however, have the exception and can take passengers.
Q: Can I share my car with a friend?
A: Yes you may share your car in the same run group at no extra charge, just have the second driver fill out the driver info page.
Q: Can I share my car with a friend in another run group?
A: Yes you may share your car in a different run group. There would be an extra charge of a regular entry price."
Sorry, not the news you were looking for.

Kurt,
Either way this event is on. Unless we get snow or something. I can assure you that it will always be more difficult to attract members to a racing event. You can plan, plan, plan but it does not mean they will come. I say to keep this event as it is and if 3 people go then that is ok. I personally cannot go at the moment until I buy some tires for my car. I do not want to race on Hankook Ventus HRII tires. Not that I am sweet or anything, I can just imagine these things falling apart -> They can't handle the temperature.
Either way I still may make the trip to check it out. Unsure as of now, but I think it would be a good time, as I have never been to any track of tis caliber. Grattan is an exception, although that was an AutoX so I don't really count it.

Hello all.............
Joe PM'ed me to let me know I am now the host. So here's the skinny.
The event is a www.speedtrialusa.com track event. It is going to either way.......Even rain and snow. (no ice) I will be instructing there for sure.
Register now......95% of the time the event is full, so walk-ins are put on a waiting list.
You need a, Safe, non-leaking car with good tires and brakes, a helmet, long pants, shirt and a clear head.
The track is about 30 minutes nw of Kalamazoo, about 2.5hrs from Detroit.
FYI: If you smash, crash, roll, or are run into by someone else.............your insurance will most likely NOT cover it with out a large fight on your part. The track/event carrys liability insurance only, this does NOT cover your car either.
Any questions, Please post them here.
Matt Jensen
wish i could make this one with you guys, but i can't...hopefully their will be one later in the year.

May I note that 99.999999% of racing events have these rules. I will tell everyone that this is a good stickey if you plan to race.

Sure would be nice to have company on the road... makes the time go faster esp. on a 2.5hr ride out. Shall we line up and haul there together?

Madison Heights is where I am starting from.
Just was notified that the beginner class of drivers is filled up and so now I am an alternate. So..... I dunno, do you think it would be worth it to go in the hopes that I can slip in as an alternate if some moron doesnt show up?

If you generally have a lead foot, then your Evo will easily fit into the intermediate class. During the course of the day, I'm sure drivers will change groups because they guessed wrong on their ability or car performance. Most events allow you to change run groups, with permission of course. At one event I went from group 2 to 3 and then to 4 for the final session (1-4). If you are lapping cars in the beginners group in your first session, it only makes sense that you move up to the next group. It's not necessarily just based on driver abilities alone. You may be running with VW Rabbits in the beginners group. Where is the fun in that?

I won't be able to meet others on the drive up. I am trailering the car up there the night before with my family. (we have relatives and property 4 miles from the track)
But I will be there bright and early................Look for the Black EVO, Black Haulmark trailer (says MOTOVICITY on the side) and Silver Dodge Ram.

Got my helmet today....
SNELL rated SA2005 open face with a pretty neat little fixed mini visor across the brim. It was about 140 bux and it will likely last me quite a few seasons.

All are welcome to watch at the track.....................sometimes there is a $10.00 cover to get in. Not sure about this event.
I will be there for sure by 8:00AM :?
Black EVO, Black haulmark trailer.............I think my wife/daughter are taking the Silver Ram for the day, so just look for a unhooked trailer and no tow vehicle :)

Showed up yesterday bright and early at Gingerman and really enjoyed the ride out there since I happened upon a severely modded Nissan 240 and a Civic Si traveling with purpose on the way.... we sort of nodded at each other and began staving off boredom by trading leads over the last 80 miles there on 94.... very fun.
Bad news was that I was not on the run list and had to provide proof that was paid for my right to run there (as an alternate) and so they tacked my name on at the bottom and said that if a slot opened up that I could run.... but that never happened, ah well.
Good news was I at least know what to expect the next time I go to an event. Like clearing every little thing out of my car the day beforehand so I am not leaving my matts and stuff on the paddock tarmac while I run LOL. I really think that Gingerman has their stuff together, very easy-going, but very professional and safe.
I stayed there until the lunch break and got to see everybody run a couple times. It was AWESOME. Everyone was very respectful of each other on the track.... I didnt see any morons what-so-ever. Great cars going darn near as fast as they possibly could around that track. Dropspeed was certainly an eye-opener for me, the man is insane. I think he lapped just about everyone on the track at least once during one of his sessions. I think he ran with the instructors, so these guys were FAST.
The advanced class was unreal.... there were a couple S2000's, a couple 911's, a C5, C6, M3's and some purely purpose-built machines just screaming. There was a red M3 and a Gold C5 there that were sick-fast. They were entering turns at speeds that made me wince.
All in all it was a pretty good time. I decided to leave early because I didnt want to fight evening traffic on a weekend, and I was right. The drive home was quick and effortless. Next event, I am going to certainly get my slot locked in VERY early and make the appropriate preparations so I am not a spectator again.

Agreed, it was an excellent event despite the low temps. Cold weather, cold track, cold tires, plus suspension set on AutoX equals spin on second lap. After I softened up my dampening and adjusted tire pressures, I was having a blast in the afternoon sessions passing a few in the Advanced group. The 993 Turbo was unreal and practically lapped everyone.
I also had the opportunity to meet Dropspeed and watch him pass everyone in the Instructors group including the bright yellow GT3. Very friendly personality and willing to answer everyone's questions. Also, his car is very clean and sharp looking (wingless).
On a side note, there were at least 8-10 STI's.
Look forward to doing it again! Maybe Gratten next time. :)
Dave
PS. Dropspeed, don't forget to let me know when that gauge package is available.
