Alright everyone, the search is on. My own requirement is that the car has a turbo. I can do a personal loan up to $7500 and a car loan up to 15k which equates to a payment of $250 per month. The personal loan is 12.5% 3 years and the car loan is 4.75% up to 6 years. If I get an older car, it must be built or known good. Like I don't want a 2G talon with a 7 bolt. I have spent some time compiling this thread so everyone tell me what you think!

As you can see this car has a lot of modifications and everything was installed professionally. The car has been street tuned and is predicted to make at least 400 horsepower. The motor has around 2500 miles on it. The car has been running low boost and has been treated like a baby since the motor built. The reason I am selling the car is in order to pay some debts off. I have over $7000.00 worth of receipts just on hardware and have spent over $10,000 invested in this project.

The car is in indianapoils, in. I went and looked at the car yesterday. The car does not have new paint, it is a little dirtier and worn but nothing that can't be cleaned. The tranny will have to built(it has to be towed home). It has no 3rd or 4th gear, a tranny build from TeamRip should be around 1000-1200$. The asking price on the car is $6500 and I could work this some if I need to.

This car is very nice indeed. It may need valve seals in the near future but will still drive. The car has recent paint and the tranny is in good shape. Although this is an expensive car to work on and the engine like any boosted MItsu motor that is 15 years old could last for 5 more years or blow up tommorow. This risk must be considered. The asking price is around $8000-$9000. Which is more than I can afford although this can be split up into a personal loan and a conventional car loan.

Well gonna sell the talon. I hate to see it go but I'm probably gonna get an S4 so I don't need to have 4 cars. Well lets start with the long list of mods.

I bought the car beggining of June or so and have performed all of the drivetrain mods since. All of the work has been done at Showcase Mitsubishi. I have all of the reciepts. I have performed over $3500 in work to the car in the past two months alone. Yeah mind boggling I know. The car was repainted two years ago so the paint is in good shape it is stock DSM red with blue pearl over it. I will have a carbonfiber hood on it soon which will go with the car. The car was towed from Lake Cadilac once (Sprung was with me so you can ask him) and wasn't straped down properly and bumped in to the back of the truck. The bumper hood and fender were scratched. The rivits on the bumper were popped off. None of this should be a consideration though because I will have a new freashly painted bumper and fender on the car when the car is purchased. As I have stated it will also have a new Carbonfiber hood on the car too. It has stock wheels that are painted black. The interior is pretty clean but the seats do have the usual fading. It has a hoop/roll bar welded in. The shift knob is a second gen. The switch for the boost controler is hidden in the ashtray. I only have one gage, an Apex'i boost gage. The speakers a boston acustic and it has a Sony CD player. I bought the car for around $6K and have put OVER $3.5K into it, that does not include the $2,300 for the bumper, paint, and hood. Yes, if you do the math it is $11,800. I know the car is not worth that. I'm asking $7.000 obo. Let me know if anyone is interested. The car is very quick and pulls hard. Ask Evolutionary, Sleeper (sprung), Playerz, and Trousersnake(we kinda ran once). I also believe Kurt has seen it run at Clio and that was when the CV started clicking (now new) and the transfer case went (also new now) and it was still extreamly quick. I think that is it if I've forgot anything I'll try to add later.

The car is awaiting paint, a new CF hood, projector headlights, headliner, and some other minor stuff under the hood. When complete should be a real runner and look very nice. The car should need nothing and already has everything built. It does not have the resale of the 2G although when you get these types of mods anyways you typically don't care about resale. Clint is going to be firm on his asking price of $7000.

2004 Dodge SRT-4 (I don't really want to call it a Neon)

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/571889

http://www.srtforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=210634

Hi! Thanks for the e-mail about my car; here's a list of mods and
some attached pictures. If you like what you see, let me know and
let's see what we can work out!

Mods are:
Mopar S2 turbo w/toys
Mopar S3 Coilovers
Mopar Short throw shifter, steel shift knob & booger bushings
Front strut bar
Prothane motor mount inserts
Konig Holes 18 x 7.5 rims with fairly new proxies
Tinted windows
upgraded speakers, but no radio (original not available)
MSD plug wires
ATP 3" downpipe w/hi-flow cat & 2.5" borla cat-back
apexi turbo timer

It has a few nagatives too, the surge valve is ruptured, (im in the
process of getting that replaced now) and the intercooler sprayers leak
(common problem with mopar upgrades).

Other than that, the car is in great shape, It was very reliable for
me and I kept good care of it. If you have any other questions, let me know!
Matt

The price on the car is 14k. I have not seen the car yet, it is Lancaster, PA. That is the longest drive. Although for everything done it seems worth it.

Thank everyone!

I think the SRT-4 would be the most reliable, but is that what you are going for? The rate on that personal loan sucks balls, my credit card has about the same rate. I'd go with the SRT 4. It might even be worth something when you pay it off (assuming 4 year term). As much as I hate saying it, i'd go with the SRT-4.

It would be 6 years, big deal. Reliability is part of it although I am unsure if I want to give up my Mitsubishi heritage. I really like the turbo AWD.

Im gonna go along with Money Pit on this one. Im not a fan of FWD, but I am even less of a fan of a 10-15 year old car when i can have one that is 2 years old, know what I mean. So my vote is an SRT4.

The only thing holding my back from being all-in on the Dodge is that I dont think the '04s had the LSD and the upgraded halfshafts. You might want to check into that, I could be wrong.

In any event, the Dodge will last many years if you take care of it, even if you decide to get a TD05 or something for it.

Ive driven many an SRT4, and truth be told, they are pretty fun to drive. Its no evo, but hey, the price is right.

My vote went to the 95 TSi. You end up with a newer chassy but still have the benefits of the better 6 bolt setup. Once the transmission is built, I would imagine you could get it to be more reliable than the 92.

I would think you'd get fed up with the SRT pretty quick, too little traction.

Well it looks like the 04 srt and 95 tsi are out of the question.

The 91 VR4 is phenomenial although it is going to need a little maintaince to get it where it should be. It is still the coolest choice.

I am going to look at another 95 talon hopefully today and I will report back on that.

Im just curious why did you can the evo.... all the money spent on it yo going to get another high maintaice import tuner or a pretty new and semi expensiv srt-4 (our goofy counter parts)?

I sold my second love to buy a house. TRUST me I am looking at another EVO too. I know the whole project/maintaince thing, and it is staying apparent oin my head.

then buy a crappy but relable car early mid 90s civic/ accord for 1000.00 and save for a new evo! hope you kept the old parts

buy warrens vr4, because i can't!

MitsuJoe
02-17-2006, 03:56 PM
Don't think that I didn't try! I got my main bank to approve the funds although they wanted to do a 2 year note which would have been like a 340 a month car payment. That wasn't going to cut it as I could have refinaced my EVO back out and got the payment to be $315 a month...either way I am taking a MAJOR hit to performance in every way by not having the EVO.

antilag_200

what are u talking about Joe, :) the VR4 would whoop all over the evo in every way possible :)
its all good you got that 2g and that should treat you fine for the mean time. save your pennies and get an evo in the future.

good luck
