NAIAS Auto Show 2006 January 19th, 2005

Alright here is the official signup post for the NAIAS Auto SHow. We want to be there to meey by 10AM. I am unsure if we can get the group discount although I may post this on many forums as a Michigan Enthusiasts meet. I don't plan on sticking together through the entire show although I do feel that some kind of dinner afterwards would be in order. Probably around 6-7pm or so. Discuss your ideas in this thread:

Any of you know of any secrets for parking? Last year I parked in an underground garage in the middle of Jefferson (literally between the east and westbound lanes) that said "No Auto Show Parking". Cobo was about a 1 minute walk from there.

Shiz I just found out that I have a rehearsal dinner that my wife is the mtron of honor in...I think it is at 5:00pm so, I have to meet at 10:00am for sure with you guys and then try to be on the road by 4:00ish and I am all good. We definatly need a meeting place. Bob, come up with something for us east side boys! Just post it and I will be there. :)

I think we should all meet at the Mitsu exhibit at a certain time...unsure of when a good time would present.

Also I an considering buying 25 tickets to save some people some money, although I am unsure of how I can get everyone the tickets. Just a thought. :idea:

Figures - Mitsu is waaaaaaay in the back corner, between Kia & Hyundai...

How 'bout we regroup at the Mitsu exhibit every 2 or 4 hrs on the hour, i.e.: 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 4pm, etc?

Just for fun, I'll probably wear my Ralliart hat & a sweatshirt with the "Mitsubishi Motors" logo on the chest. Been doing that the last couple shows: In the Mitsu area, always have people come up to me & start asking questions about the vehicles, especially the Evo, thinking I work there... (last year I wore a nametag that said "Yeah, I drive a Mitsubishi Evolution... anything else is just a car..." Man, did I get the 'evil eye' from the personnel in other automaker exhibits!!!)

Parking: I usually just park on Cobo's roof, but if that's full, weather is decent and I feel like a long (and I really mean long!) walk, I'll park in the Joe Louis garage.

i m thinking about going(possible) with you guys i ll have to take the day offf from work. i ve met a few of you guys at the k-zoo labor day meet(i had the 95 eclipse gsx(black) evo was in the shop) while i have the evo back finally and have been driving it the past month and a half, and wouldn't mind meeting a few more evo owners. i ll check tomorrow if i can get that day off of work to go with everyone.

Keep an eye out for a bunch of guys:
A) hanging out at the Mitsu exhibit, with 'know-it-all' expressions & cocky swaggers, or,
B) hanging out at the Subaru exhibit, with 'know-it-all' expressions & cocky swaggers, or,
C) snickering at everybody's 'performance car' pitch for anything under $50K that isn't an AWD 300hp 4-door, or,
D) rolling on the floor having hysterical fits of laughter at the Dodge Caliber exhibit. (I thought the Neon/SRT-4 peeps with the "all I need is a couple mad-prop (ricer) mods to make my ride a real Evo-killer" mentality were bad... When you get there, make sure you check out the Speedshop accessories for the Caliber: massive single inlet/dual-exhaust fartcan, upgraded speakers, and a subwoofer box!)

If anybody is doing mass ticket purchasing to get a deal, don't include myself and my Dad. I was able to obtain a pair of tickets from a friend.

My work put a change control in on wednesday(out of my hands). I am expected to attend the downtime so I will have pull out of being at the show...err.

I think the best thing for everyone to do would be to meet at the MItsu exhibit around 11AM. Everyone should be there by then. Make sure to take MANY pictures and make a post about the show somewhere. I am very disappointed I cannot make it, actually kind of pissed although its how it has to be. I took a promotion and this is the start of the headache. I am 6 feet deep in the hole and the shovel is at the top, now the dirt will start piling on.

Don't depend on me for advice regarding where to go for eats & what-not: D-town is about the only place where I tend to get lost.
Besides, I've been out of the 'in' scene for a while, being a 'grey-haired old fart' & all... :roll:
