Monthly Meets???

I know with some car clubs/forums they have monthly meets, and I was wondering if you guys did the same. I know with the local MINI club they meet at a Starbucks location and hang out and talk. I was wondering if this one did anything like this?? :?:

Nothign like this is in the works as of yet although maybe next year we will make this happen. Sometime this winter we will have a cold meet to discuss 06' plans.

Well.... back in the day my friends and I would meet in a mall parking lot... there is usually enough room to park all the cars together and there is always a food court and some sort of coffee place at hand.

Lakeside, Twelve Oaks, Somerset, Oakland.... name it. I'd even be willing to go as far as Meridian Mall in Okemos or Lansing Mall.

Plenty of places to have meets, just need to know where everyone is located that is interested in attending and then choose a site accordingly.

We could meet at the Westland Mall in Westland or the very large shopping plaza across from the Westland Mall next to the Mcdonalds, I know I could keep the cops from bugging us :D , as long as no one starts doing donuts in the parking lot.. and if you do I might even write yeah a ticket if your going to make me look bad and yes i can even if i m off duty, if your wondering.

It would be a long drive for me though as it might be for some of you..since I live in Macomb Twp other side of the world compared to Westland...

Just an idea I m throwing out there..

Kurt, the meeting place sounds like a winner if you can use your influence to ensure that we are relatively undisturbed - provided we behave ourselves of course. :wink:

As far as a monthly meet is concerned, might I suggest a poll to see what day would work for most, like the 1st Saturday of every month at 10 AM. (I am game for weekends, Saturday afternoons or early Sunday mornings.)

I belong to a few other car enthusiast clubs and find that having a standing meeting on the same day and time monthly works really well. That day could also become an install day if all agree from time to time. Just a couple of thoughts.

However my schedule isn't always the best. I work 12 hour midnight shifts 7pm-7am & 14 days a month, broken down - 5 days one week and work 2 days the next week. There are 2 platoons and I m on platoon 1. My schedule repeats itself, for example this week i work 2 days, i only work wednesday and thursday. Next week i work 5 days, mon tues & fri,sat,sun..and it continues like this forever, so basically i have every other weekend off.
So if you decide on the first saturday of the month, sometimes i may have it off and sometimes i might be working, but this is ok too because I will be on patrol and if i'm not busy when you guys meet there i could bring the cop car up there and sit with you guys for awhile..if someone calls the police on you i will hear it over the radio and i will either show up or call the officer responding and let him know i know you guys...like i said as long as no one is racing through the parking lot, or everybody rev's there motor at the same time, or you come racing through the city and get pulled over by one of my co-workers there should be no problem. also if i m working I might be able to give you a personal presidential escort out of the city when you all leave....
afireinside is also a westland firefighter, and should also be showed some love from westland pd.

Its only an idea right now and its up to the group(majority) to make it happen, though i would prefer to wait till it warms up a bit, i parked my car for the winter but could always bring it out for a meet.

Westland sounds good to me, easy drive from Ypsi. Should just pick a date and stick with it. My schedule changes weekly, but with enough notice, I can usually arrange a day off to fall on any given day.

I'm usually always free Saturdays. Sundays won't work for me. I like the idea of just setting a particular day of the month to meet. If the majority can make it, then it works out.

this sounds like a great idea, i had a lot of fun at the kzoo meet labor day weekend, if we could due this ever month that would be great. first saturday of the month sounds the best to me. i live in coldwater(right on the indiana border) and i ll make the drive where ever.

Well Gentlemen (& Ladies if applicable), it appears as though the first Saturday of the month seems to be a good day for the majority who seem to be interested in getting this meet off the ground.

Now all we have to do is to decide on a time and when to have our first meet. Since ByeByeSTi will be driving in from Coldwater, I would suggest that we not make it too early, not to mention, some may also be recovering from their recreational drinking activities from the night before, if you know what I mean. :mrgreen: So, I would suggest no earlier than 10:00 AM. What do you all think?

Kurt, will you be working on the 1st Saturday in either February or March? If not, perhaps we have our kick-off during one of these months.

I have to work Feb 4th first Saturday of February and will have to work every First Saturday until May... May is the first month I have the first Saturday off. I also work at 7pm (midnights) so if your going to make the meets for the morning hours I will be sleeping and unable to attend on the days i work..If the meets are 7pm or later on the first Sat's of every month and then I could come up their with the police car...If you meet at the Mall or across the mall next to the Mcdonalds that's District 1 and for the most part the nicer officers work that district & wouldn't hassle you.. Ofc Yudt (nice guy) normally works that district and if their is a problem you guys could call me....I've pretty much worked with all the guys on dayshift and have most of their cell #'s programmed in my cell phone...
586-703-5033 is my # if you have any problems during the day shift.
The only time were going to say something is when were called there by a nosey citizen.
So for the most part I won't see yah guys until the first Saturday of May or if you decide to meet at 7pm or later.. AfireINSIDE (matt westland firefighter) only works 9 days of month so he might be able to meet you on the first of every saturday..you'll have to ask him though..

So far it sounds like people want to meet the first Saturday of every month in Westland, but what time & where???... Also the more i think about it... a safer place to meet in westland which doesn't get as much attention from the police is the bowling alley (Oak Lanes) on Middlebelt rd & Ann arbor Trail (8450 N Middlebelt Rd westland, mi 48185)
it has a big parking lot and we rarely go there..I originally suggested the westland mall or the parking lot across from it but that place is like the heart of the city and gets a lot of attention from US/or passing by....Anyone know how to set up a poll like joe did for helping him pick a car... make a new link with a poll so people can vote on a meet day and a starting month..For example the First saturday of every month starting March 04, 2006 at 7:30 pm ...i prefer to meet at night.. but thats just me....If i knew how to start one of those polls i would...

it was nice meeting a few of you at the auto show on the 19th but we really didn't get to talk...i was the one wearing the orange sweat shirt that looks very young. (last sentence ediited because i didnt like how it sounded)

as of right now i agree, somehwere around 7:30-8:30 we can meet up in the oak lanes parking lot and since its still cold for the next 2 months theres a rams horn right next door that we can go sit at to bulls***t around at. whats everyone else think?

The rams horn after the meet is a great idea...and its very close. Sounds like the following people like the idea of meeting the first saturday of every month in westland-

we still need more voices/input.. i think if this idea takes off & becomes a regular thing/meet... for example a lot of people go to the red line meets on friday's and maybe some of them will drift over to this meet on saturday....i guess only time will tell & maybe we will just have to wait for warmer weather to get more commitment from the group as a whole..
I think also people if not afraid to do so should post their contact #'s on here..to make it easier to find out if people are meeting up since every one doesn't always have time to check this forum or their email.. for example, like an address book -

Thats surprising...?? i will have to go to that website and check it out.. They would be better off meeting at that bowling alley (oak lane) middlebelt/ann arbor trail.. less visible to wlpd..(plus its next to rams horn like g'sevo mentioned... I wish i could attend..but last minute i just made plans to fly to florida to see my parents.. so i will be unable to attend (out of state).. I m flying out sunday 01/28/06 coming home thursday 02/02/06. I was going to call you matt and inform you on what you are reading now.. so i won't be able to take my car to get dyno'd at factory tuning inc like we planned on later this week..will have to postpone the dyno..
I might start meeting at their meet every wednesday starting in feburary pending if i dont have to work but if i do i might be able to stop up their anyway, as well as ours, if we ever start one, i ll call and talk to you about it matt.

I think you're not going to get as much feedback from us who don't live close to the meet spot. It would be cool to drive the hour once in a while, but going down every weekend or two is not as feasible. When is the first meet then? I'll try to make it.

I was thinking it was once a month, not every weekend, the first saturday of every month.. i m also driving 123 miles roundtrip to make the meet.. I think the first meet should be march 4th (Saturday-bowling alley middlebelt/ann arbor trail) however like i said previously i won't be able to make the first meet until May unless i can take the day off work which i will try to do..

If you guys agree with march then everyone should say if they can go or not, i suggested exchanging phone numbers, by posting them here or pm'ing them..

I would like to join in the meet too. So it is going to be the first Saturday of every month in Westland? I live in belleville so that isn't far at all. Can someone confirm the time and place? And is March 4th going to be the first one?

If for some reason the parking Lot lights are not on at the bowling alley, then everyone meet at the Rams Horn that is open 24 hours that is right next door...

I'm going to try and get the night off so I can be in attendance with my car...if not I will probably be up there with the cop car.. My cousin will also be attending with me, even though he has a 2005 Blk Subaru STi.

Any one disagree? If not I think this is what were going with...
