I was drifting yesterday night on an empty parking lot in an industrial zone when a cop saw me.
He didn't give me any ticket but he was not very nice with me.
The reason I gave him was I was tested the car on snow (and I've fun) which was kind of true; first time with the EVO on snow. :D
I really think it's important to know my car on snow in order to do not be surprised if something happens on the road...
So it's illegal but is there a reason cops can give us a careless driving? Even if there is nobody, empty parking lot and not drifting very fast?
Maybe a stupid question, but I ask anyway ;)
I think they can give wreckless driving which is six points on your liscense or something... I did this todaya with a friend. But we took like 10 min to find a spot that was "just right". I just did a few snow-nuts and left before I pushed my luck too far. It was funny, my friend said he started to get dizzy

Most parking lots are private property, so I don't think they can hit you with a ticket, but I'm not sure about Michigan law. I know that when I lived in Idaho, they couldn't do anything, for the same reason that they couldn't ticket you for running stop signs in parking lots.
More of a trespassing issue if anything.

If issued a warning(written) it is entered on a 90 day as a side note, atleast this is true in Troy and B-ham.

good info :)
As far as i believe they cannot cite you for anything other than trespassing. Luckily enough one of my jobs is circuit city so i am entitled to all the parkinglot/playground fun i can handle :)

Yes you can get in trouble, it depends how the cop deals with it. I had a domestic friend get in trouble for doing donuts, I mean crap it smoked out the street so I can imagine why the cop wrote him a ticket. He fought and had it reduced, although something about a mustang makes it irresistable to the world to let it fly. Do the same in an import and you may be SOL.
