anyone know of any good winter events? I know there's got to be some "unofficial" things happening... like maybe a frozen lake or pond?

If anyone wants to scout around for a massive and secluded parking lot somewhere, we could all meet up when there is some of the white stuff on the ground and laugh at eachother sliding around like idiots....

There are some ice races scheduled on the Bay put on by SVR. Let's hope we get some good sub-zero temps back to get it frozen solid. Don't want the EVO to learn how to swim the hard way

I will be at the first one for sure. Gotta put the Nokian Hakkapeliitta's through their paces. Maybe if it is fun and all I will go all out with some studded tires! 335 WHP on the ice, sounds like FUN!! :D

For sure no ice racing any time soon. I cannot believe how nice it has been!

Gotta put the Nokian Hakkapeliitta's through their paces.
What size Nokian Hakkapeliitta are you running, and what's your opinion of 'em?

Have you had a chance to compare them to the Nokian RS1?

Been seriously considering going with the RS1. Winter conditions by me typically consist of 90% dry pavement & 9% fresh snow, slush & rain, so the studdable Hakkapeliittas might be a slight bit of overkill - although that 1% with the icy conditions gets pretty scary...

Sorry, I do have the RSI. I think they are the newest part of the Hakkapeliitta line so I just call them that. They are stock size, 235/45/17

They are a little noizy on the road because the rubber is so soft and they have tall knobs. When you hit the brakes you can actually hear the knobs squish and the rubber smush into the pavement. They seem to last a long time, I'm on my second winter of hard driving. On the dry roads they grip pretty good and are very linear when you push it too hard. On the snow they are absolutely amazing! You can cruise on the freeway at 70mph while the rest of the world is in the slow lane at 45mph.

good luck tomorrow... take some pics and vids if possible. I'm curious how this type of event works. It sounded a little too ambitious for me.
