I am looking at buying a house...as if I didn't have enough money before at least this will be my first responsible purchase. Tell me what you think!

Damn house is the reason why I don't have any more mod money. Don't do it!!!
:P
Nice house, especially for that price. :) I gotta get away from the AA area, homes are way too overpriced.

Its not going to cost too much more to own a house, at least as long as nothing breaks. The house is immaculate, I mean everything has been replaced!
Following items are new:
Foundation
Water main
Gas main
Addition to kitchen
All new cupboards, pergo flooring, counter, sink, stove, dishwasher
Garage
About 95% new drywall
Roof trusses
Roof
All copper plumbing
All electrical
Vinyl siding
Windows
Driveway
Furnace
Hot water heater
Both bathrooms, everything new
Lighting
I probably forgot something
CONS:
Small lot 50x100, no yard
No basement
Master bedroom is next to living room
Master bedroom closet sucks
PRO:
I shouldn't have to do anything to the house
I should still have some money left to race
My wife got a job working at the hospital finally!
My wife's sister will be living with us and paying rent which will be like $200/month
I will be getting a garage again!

No yard can be a good thing, less crap to mow. Takes me about 1.5 hours to mow my lawn, but the dog loves the space.
Have your agent check the past sale prices of other houses in the neighborhood, make sure the area has been appreciating, and what you're paying is low for the neighborhood. Want to make sure that you'll get some cash when it comes time to sell.
it looks real nice Joe, money goes alot farther in Bay City!

All I can say is - you will have a garage.... :) Man, I'm so excited to get a house just for that! :lol: House looks great. But to me, any house would probably look great compared to all the apartments I've lived in. Good luck with the sale. {thumbup}

even if you have to replace some things when you move in (it's inevitable) and have to stop racing for a period of time, it will still be worth it in the long run. houses are the best thing you can buy (unless you got google at the IPO like me, haha). i've had my house for two years and homes in my neighborhood have appreciated a fair amount. join the homeowner club!

I am excited. I have a counter offer of 104,900 and I countered back with $102,500 with a $1000 Appliance allowance. We shall see!
I can't wait to have my OWN garage. It looks like I will be drywalling it and insulating it too.

Actually it is a 1.5 car garage. I need to make it homey in there though. It is brand new, no insulation, or really any extras in the garage. The house is sweet! I am excited to get this going.

BTW: Make the new garage as comfortable as possible...its gonna be your NEW "home away from home!"

Yes I see you f i n a l l y shipped it out. I will be working on the garage. Maybe in the next year I can generate enough revenue to get an air compressor and add insulation. In the mean time it will be a storage pavilion and I will work on that too.

congrats on the house. now you get to buy stupid stuff like blinds and dining room tables. my car would be twice as far along if i didnt have a house, but then again, you cant apartment hop forever! next year (2006) you'll get to take that mortgage interest deduction, haha.

Just bought the table and bedroom set. That will be a fun $300 a month for the next 12 months to pay that stuff off. I am not too worried about it though. I am very excited to be moving on with life and purchasing a house.

I wil for sure have a miEVO invite for everyone. My wife will be like what am I smoking, but it will be fun. I am excited for the garage so I can start working on cars again :!:
dude this is awesome! I just bought a house on the North side of Lansing... what is it with Evo owners? We make sure we get a badass car, THEN buy a house... seems backwards to the rest of the world, but makes perfect sense to us. I also have a garage, so I'll be tinkering around a little.
Give me a call sometime when you're in L-town and I'll give you the tour.
MitsuJoe

It is because if we get the house nobody will finance us for the car. It is kind of a crazy thing but were stock with the EVo and thats all theres to it. I don't care if I have to refinance it I am gonna keep it. I don't want to have to be one of those I bought/buying a house so I have to sell my car kind of guys...
I am forced to make it work. Even if I cannot race next year I will make it work. Having the car is 90% of the fun and I cannot forgot that, even if it is not the fastest, and what not. It is still sweet to own one

Well I got my house last wednesday. I am fully moved in and it is very nice. Sometime this year if I can find a reason to have a meet in this area I would invite everyone over for another BBQ. That was a great time at my old place. :P

Congrats Joe :) Home Depot will become your new toy store. ;)
No excuse needed for a meet, just say when and we'll be there. I'd still like to host one at my place, as well, hopefully this spring or early summer.

Finally!!
Congrats, Joe.
Don't forget to file Homestead forms too!!

Call it a "belated warm-weather housewarming", aka 'the miEVO invasion, round 2'... HEHEHE
I'll try my hardest to make it to that!
