First ANNUAL Super-mega Kalamazoo miEVO.net summer meet. People have offered input as to what they would like to do for a couple of weeks now. Since i'll be footin the bill for this, I'm gonna make up the schedule, which follows: (i'm a nice guy, so if anyone thinks the schedule sucks, speak up)

Kalamazoo, MI

2pm: Meet and wait for participants to arrive at Cruisers Pub, (7640 S. Westnedge Avenue) in Portage, MI. Have some beer and laughs.

4pm: Move the party to Ramona Park (Sprinkle Road, directly south of I-94). Grill out and eat some free dinner. I will provide the Brats, Hot Dogs, Burgers, Pop, Water, Chips and some kick ass cheesy potato thing my wife makes. Plenty of parking and nice picnic areas. Shoot the shit with fellow evo/lancer owners. Show off your car and all the hard work and money that you put into it.

8pm: Start the cruising/screwing around/making trouble down Westnedge Ave. End up at the local hangout (Target on Westnedge). I want to roll in there with at least 20 evos. I will guarantee a big local turnout. Prepare for guys in Firebirds to act badass and tell you that your car is slow (always a fun time).

After that: Who knows, its only a 10 minute drive home for me!

OK, first issue. Bell's parking lot is small. It is also downtown and hard to find. My wife seems to think that people are gonna have a hard time finding the place. I think it would be OK, but I have to remember that I have lived in Kzoo my whole life. I have an alternate bar I have been considering. It's Cruisers Pub, on Westnedge (the main street). It has plenty of parking, a car theme, cheap beer, easy to find (straight off of I-94). The downside is the owner has an STi :lol: What are everyones thoughts on this?

Second, I just contacted the park admin. about reserving a nice pavillion they have at the park. The cost is $95. Currently, no one has reserved either of the two pavillions, and there are no events scheduled for that day at the park. She said that it is also available on a first-come, first served basis. Essentially, we can cross our fingers and hope nobody reserves/uses it on our day, or I can make sure its ours by reserving it.

What should I do? I don't have a problem paying for it myself, but I am getting to the point where I NEED people commited to coming to this event. If you sign up, please follow through and show up. It's gonna cost me a fair amount of time/money to set this up, which I am MORE than happy to spend, given people are actually gonna show up. I want to make this a big event and have people show off their cars, and with everyones support, I know we can make it happen!!

Sorry everyone, doubt if I'll be able to make this Kzoo meet.

My entire family 'clan' always camps together for the entire Labor Day weekend, and since during this event we also happen to get free hot air balloon rides courtesy of my brother, his in-laws & other friends (lot of 'em balloon pilots & /owners)...

Besides, using my Evo as a balloon chase vehicle on deserted, winding back roads -usually well-maintained dirt ones- is such a blast!

I'm gonna have to call this a "maybe" until I can lock down a date for a camping trip which might end up being that same weekend, but I'll find out in the next week.

I'm all for either bar. I LOVE Bell's beer and it would be nice to have an extra fresh beer, but showing up to the other bar and having the owner see abunch of evos in the lot would be cool as hell.

UPDATE!!
I am going to change the initial meet spot from Bell's Brewery to Cruisers Pub. This should be a better match to what we are doing. Bell's is hard to find and has a small and crappy parking lot.

Cruisers Pub is located directly south of I-94 on westnedge ave. It is also located close to the park we are going to be using. The meet time will be the same, 2pm.

Everything else is on schedule, and I will be reserving the pavillion at the park today. Lets keep getting people signed up!

!!!!UPDATE!!!!!

I have some exciting news to announce. Two Michigan vendors have stepped up and shown their support of the meet!

Lancershop.com has donated a $50.00 gift certificate to be given away to the attendee who travels the farthest to attend the meet. We're calling this the "Lancershop.com Long Haul Award". If that doesn't give you guys some incentive to make the trip over to Kalamazoo, I don't know what will. Well, maybe strippers would, but I can't make that happen. Big thanks goes out to Justin at Lancershop.com for making this happen.

Also, LogicPerformace.com has donated one of their 3" downpipes to be given away. This will be given away to the EVO owner who gets their name drawn out of a hat by my lovely wife. Again a big thanks goes out to Chris at LogicPerformance.com for helping get people to this event so I don't end up wasting a bunch of time and money.

With the support of these Michigan based vendors, I'm sure everyone will have a great time, and I strongly encourage everyone to attend, no matter how stock or far away from stock your EVO might be!

being a saturday, I'll probably have my 2 year old son with me if I go to this... Do you think the festivities will be kid-friendly? He'll probably take a nap on the way there or something, and I won't be able to stay very late, but I think I would still like to go. (especially if I win a DP!).

I know of a guy in Harrison who owns a red evo, but I don't think he's been to this site yet. I think he would win the "Long Haul" if he showed.

another thing, if anyone shows up to the park without the main group, make sure you tell them that you are with the "Phillips Evo Meet" or else you'll have to pay $5 to get in. they tried tellin me that peeps would have to pay an admittance fee and i told them they were on crack. i couldn't believe that after $100 rental fee they had the nerve to tell me people would have to pay again to get in. if anyone has any trouble, be sure to let me know (i'll be in the pink shirt, haha). if anyone from out of town wants my cell number in case they get lost, PM me. and try to refrain from pranking me later. :lol:

there is no drinking at the park, hence the chance to slam a few beforehand. actually, out of the 4 parks i looked in to, none in the area "allow" alcohol. that doesnt mean you cant keep a cooler in your car, but just remember i didnt tell you that. just everyone use good judgement, as my name and address are on the permit, and i dont wanna have to pay some kinda fine or something.

again, no one needs to pay for anything, just show up and have fun, thanks for the offers. gas will be a bitch to pay for anyways.

hey a big thank you to everyone who showed up! I'm glad people had fun, that's what it was all about. I'm sorry I couldn't get more cars to show up, but i really think i PM'd half of evoM about this, haha. Next year will be much bigger/better.

Also, i have those pics i took of everyone in front of their cars. Of course mine turned out the best because of my pink shirt fetish. I will post them up if everyone gives me the OK, as I dont want to assume everyone wants their picture on the internet.

Unfortunately you cannot see my drift from that stop sign, but you can hear me bounce off the rev limiter then backfire, if you listen real close. That was a hell of a lot of fun, however my legs were shaking the rest of the night.

Speaking of, I tried out the Kumhos this weekend, and they're unbelievable. Unfortunately, they weren't enough to dethrown the SM King, Jarrod, but they're way betten than even the Azenis. I did get him on Sunday though (thank you sweet cone).
