If you don't AutoX or want to consider trying it this track is the best place to start. It is very niceley laid out and a lot of fun. Any Lancer on this track should be lots of fun. I am also planning to have a BBQ later in the day after the event is over or during lunch.

Cost is $35 and more info is available here. Make sure to preregister on this site or you will not get in. This event ALWAYS fills up.

Brats would be great. I would love to have a BBQ there. It beats the track food!

If you've been to this before, what kind of autocross do they put on over there at Grattan? Is it pretty much the whole track or just a portion? What kind of a turnout? How many runs? The WMR website doesn't give any info on this stuff...

Thanks!

Half the track is set up and I use the top of 3rd most of the way around. It is a fast 60 sec course. There is a max allowed at the event and it is always filled early. I remember running 4 times at last years event.

I remember running 4 events too! And I actually finished all of them. 8)

I would be on for some brats/dogs/chips/salad/pop for the day. It would be a good time.

It'll be trailered in, but if I make it, the Talon will too. I might be down for another BBQ if its there or near there. No working on an EVO this time for me though :D

Joe,

What's the details on the BBQ? At the event? After the event (location)? I can supply tky brats if there is no objection. Excellent taste!

I only count 3 evo registered for the event as of today and 83 of the 150 available positions are filled. I would hate to see you guys miss out on this awesome event. I only watched last year because I "thought" I had a warranty, but now I know better so its time really carve up some pavement. Looking forward to seeing everyone, it will be fun!

Is this a fast track, or more technical? Just wondering because I've never driven a fast track.

Last year I never left 3rd gear. Fast!

Dave

MitsuJoe
08-21-2005, 08:13 PM
Well it would be faster than 3rd gear if it wasn't for the AutoX setup. Top of third in the EVO is about 85 if you don't remember.

Gingerman is a faster course. Their straight there you should hit speeds of 120-130. The straight at Grattan is a slalom and then at the exit you get to do WOT which may put in 4th gear.

damn this sounds fun. I see I need to register in the next couple days or I'm screwed... my only question is what class I would be in, and how many runs would 150 drivers typically get at Grattan? I just have a catback, intake, and springs.

91AWDDSM
08-26-2005, 08:38 AM
If the suspension is just springs and the intake doesn't change the shape of anything, you'd be in A stock still.
If the suspension is just springs and the intake changes any thing major in the intake track - takes out bends, replaces plastic with metal, goes from a flat filter to a cone - you could be in STX.
If the suspension is a full coilover - i.e. doesn't use the factory perches - your also be in STX.

Sorry, A-Stock is not correct. If you changed the springs and/or intake, you are in 1 of 3 classes. ESP, STU, or SM. The cat-back is the only legal mod you have for A-Stock. Most of us that have already signed up are running in SM. Come join us!

Ryan,
Who cares what class...just do SM because your different clutch, air intake, and springs. No questions, all smiles, go have fun!

MitsuJoe

Yep you can have riders and they should have helmets.

Yes, you can switch the day of or you can "edit" your information on myautoevents.com. Just log in and look at the entry list. Under your name you will see "edit". click and then change your class. Be sure to save your changes at the bottom.

Blonde,
You are HS or H stock. Also since you are a "lady" You will be HSL. I only put lady in quotes because I do not directly agree with singling woman out against men, but this is how they do it.

After all, Abby whoops up on some of the dudes a lot of the time. She would have finished 4th out of 8 in SM two days ago at a South Bend event. Instead, she was 1st out of 1 in SML.

at the indy winged warrior auto-x a seniorly woman beat her husband in their miata and made him wear a pink apron the next day. They did not separate men/women in that event, as it was not SCCA.

although It would make me sad that I wasn't able to attend, it'd still be cool if y'all could post your pics and vids from Grattan. Anyone get some good In car shots?

GreddyEvo
09-07-2005, 10:02 PM
Here are a couple shots Cocoabro (yellow) and me (black) carving the last set of cones before the straight away. Actually I think it was Cocoabro's other half in that pic because I got it when I was working that corner, he raced with me. I was running with all the other evos and forgot to tell my picture taker to get them all. I do like these though.
