8.20.05 Woodward Dream Cruise 2005 Official Signup thread!

Alright if you have any intention of going to Woodward please say it here. We have to make this happen as a club. More planning to be done on 8.6.05. If you have something to add please state it here. A lot of EVO owners have expressed interest in this event although I have had little initiative and planning to make it a reality.

I have the possibility to get large scale paper banners made. I will need someone to design this in Photoshop for me. Once I get the prints I can make the banners. My plans are 3-4 banners around 3x10 feet or so. This can be a lot of fun so lets make it happen!

Vince, I know that the dream cruise doesn't appeal to Exedy's demo but I think what we're trying to do by showing up as Imports is to start changing this cruise from strictly an american muscle "fuck yea" deal into a full ranged auto-enthusiast deal. I think having a vendor show up would attract more import guys/girls next year. If you pitch it like that, some vendors might bite on it.... just a thought.

I did pitch that to Matt, and I think he agree's.....but Exedy scheduled him OUT OF TOWN for that weekend. Makes no sense to me.

The worlds largest single day car event and Exedy doesn't represent? Bummer, but I am still gonna buy their clutch...

lol, yeah they do, but I don't wanna piss Matt off...he does have one sweet EVO...and on a more serious note, I have felt the Exedy, never seen the HKS in person...

Time is running out, and I came across this post regarding spots for sale for the cruise. Somone should call about this. It's $100 for the whole day, i think it would be worth it to guarantee us a spot to park.

I've got PMs out to a few places trying to secure parking spots for 10~20 Evos.

(2) possibilities so far:
- downtown Birmingham (entire lot!!!), or
- west side of Woodward, 1 block south 11 Mile.

Anticipate cost to be $55 or $65 per car. 1 of these places accepts PayPal to reserve spots - I can front some cash to help secure spots for us, but expect to be repaid if this goes through...

Heard back from 1 guy: as of right now, still have 10 or 11 spots for $65 each, but ain't gonna be available long - lot has to be paid for by this Friday. Paypal & cash accepted.

Im down for that, just let me know the details. Are they good spots? I dont want to pay money to park way in the back somewhere. I think we would all need to leave the spots and have a nice motorcade with all the evos going down woodward.

yeah, something has to be in concrete quickly. i'm going no matter what because my wife will be along to see her friend in Royal Oak. I'd still really like to meet up with everyone. If not, then i guess i will take the more luxurious Murano over instead.

Dont go to the hawthorns alot. Its private now i watched a whole bunch of people get tickets their the other night. I guess the owner has been complaining. If you go their cops will just throw you out.

I will be at my family's usual spot on WW, just south of 14 Mile on the WEST side. Right next to Bruces alignment. There is a matress place and a bead shop that we have been parked at for years...I will be there every night til we get kicked out at 10pm....

Derek (Derek032) was flagged down (guess by whom?) & eventually stopped by while Joe was out cruisin', hung around long enough to meet Joe.

We even talked for a bit with an Evo owner who'd driven in from Minnesota - unfortunately, he didn't bring his Evo.

I'll post a few pics as soon as I get a chance to resize 'em. Might even include a bit of the (crappy nightvision resolution) video that I got of Joe & my son racing Evos against each other on Woodward. :lol:

You must've stopped by when my son & I were out walking & getting drenched. The yellow Evo that was parked on the other side of the street is mine.

Vince & Joe told me that while I was gone, the '06 STi pulled up next to them: the driver got out & snapped a couple of picks, then took off. I'd been hoping to get a chance to look over the new STi - especially their roof spoiler.

I sat behind him for awhile and got a good look at it before passing him. Saw the guy in my review pointing me out to his passenger :) That spoiler had better be really effective, because it just doesn't look right.

I must've stopped by those guys before you got there, just saw the black and white Evos :?

I forgot to mention, at the end of the night, I spotted two odd looking Ford Focuses....Foci? A black one and a yellow one. First glance they looked like they were jacked up in the rear. Then headlights reflected off a aluminum gear cover, attached to a solid rear axle :shock: I have never seen a RWD Focus conversion before.
