Alright, so I have a new (to me) lawnmower (old Honda HR214, was top of the line in it's day, and is still pretty nice for a lawnmower) and I think it needs more power. Anybody here ever turbo their lawnmower, or do any performance mods?

I need to measure the opening for the carburator and find a cone filter that'll fit it

I'm kinda joking.... but kinda not.

I mean really does it bog down on heavy cuts or what?

Yeah, but it was the first time it ran in probably a couple years, and the blade was really dull. Tonight I sharpened the blade, changed the oil, and gave it a new spark plug (old one was really fouled). We'll see what that does.

I still want to remove the airbox and get a cone filter. It'd be cool if I could find a miniature canister muffler, too.

I can't believe I'm actually spending time researching this. Unfortunately, all the online info about customizing lawnmower engines revolves around go-karts or lawn tractor racing.

For intake, I could probably make a SRI out of some 1" rubber tubing, 1" thin aluminum pipe, and a breather filter. If I made it really long, maybe run up the handle, could I call it a CAI? Or I could do the ghetto "swiss-cheese mod" to the stock airbox.

As for the exhaust, I'm thinking about either opening up the stock muffler and removing some baffles, or getting a muffler for a riding mower (kinda like a canister muffler) and have that sticking out the side.

I was thinking about getting some RA1's, too, to help out the self-propelled feature.

And maybe I'll cover the engine cutting deck in carbon fiber look vinyl.

Well, it is a Honda.
