Pardon me, but I'm just being nosey. Just curious as to what everyone does during the week to afford the habit (no, not that habit).

I'm an accountant working the private sector, while the wife is a CPA. Our kids are gonna be nerdy, what can I say?

My "career" as a PC Support Specialist at PHNS an IT company that serves many hosiptals. This is at the BRMC(Bay Regional Medical Center) in Bay City. They outsource their IT work to us. I get paid decently considering it is entry level. The benefits are awesome though!

My finance currently has no job and is looking. Without her addition our budget is very tight and will require some parental support for the next few months until she finds something. That is why I am cutting it tight with events. Affording the EVO is enough and when having anohter $200 a month for events is pretty tough.

I'm a Mitsubishi salesman at Showcase Mitsubishi. Not my idea of a good job, but it's pretty good money. Puts me through school and allows me to have the things that I want. 8)

Electrical Engineering's my game. I work for Consumers Energy in Jackson developing/maintaining the electrical standards for our transmission system (46,000 volts and up). It's really fun (bullshit). But, it does allow me to crash my car every few months

I park cars for a living.....really.

Yes, I am pushing 30 yrs old, but being a manager for the biggest and best valet company in the state of MI has some advantages.

I was a mechanical engineer, but the idea of sitting in a office cubicle (box) breathing recycled air just isn't my thing. Besides, cars are my passion and it is a way to see it all.

I'm a database programmer / support guy for Great Lakes Div. of American Cancer Society, but being it's a non-profit, it doesn't pay as well as you'd think. If I moved to the for-profit sector I could make more, but for the moment I'm staying put. The best thing is that I make as much as I do and I skipped most of High school, dropped out and got my GED! can't complain really

I don't think Ashley has posted this, must be too modest or something, but he cleaned out both the Best In Show and Best Evo category. I called it didn't I??? I knew an Evo would win just cuz everyone there loves them, and his stands out in the crowd. He also has the best mods over everyone who showed up. Besides, I voted for ya too so that helps!

haha wow you all have real jobs...I work at home depot about 30-40 hours a week... go to school part time... and spend every single frickin cent on my evo... prolly 75% of my income... I also live awith my parents and figure i dont really have anything better to spend my money on. I love cars so much its totally worth the struggle i go through every month trying to pay bills. Some of you might say I'm dumb for this, but I know i won't regret it when im older. I just hate the people who say theirs no way i can afford my car...

were there's a will there's a way... I take home a little over half of my gross pay after taxes, insurance, and child support. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about taking care of a kid, its just I'm sure I could do it on my own for much less than the state is charging me  So yea I can't afford mods like some of you, but I still love me car. Can't wait to get it back!

I'll never fault you for spending money on something you love. My car is sweet as hell, but my house is the complete opposite. We all have our priorities, and in my opinion, the only ones doing the wrong things in life are the ones who bitch about those of us who are enjoying ourselves. Besides, when you're middle aged, have a family and a mortgage and a minivan, you won't look back on this time and say "I wish I would've bought that Evo when I had the chance"

Preach. I bought a brand-new house, but I haven't bought shit for it. No flowers outside, plain looking yard. My neighbors are hatin that. Home mods are just not as fun as car mods.

Well im 19 y.o. 20 in august :P so im a young buck still. Anyways I do loss prevention for circuit city around 30-40+ hrs a week. Most of my money goes to the car but since i'm my college is paid for and i live with my rents still i would probably be out doing dumber things with the money if i had it... I love the car, i love cars! so i dont think its dumb of me, it gets tight at times but i'm really good at saving my money even with a high-maint gf :)

Well i afford my habit by working at KingpinPerformance. BUt I bought mine and got everything by owning my own company. I dealt with some bad vendors and I was forced to sell it. Now I work for Kingpin Performance. BUt....... I will afford the EVO by hopefully landing an engineering position Although I know I will start out working at a machine shop once again. SO if anyone needs a Manufacturini Engineer ahem ahem..

I would say location being anywhere i can drive to within an hour from downriver... so anywhere like up to auburn hills to monroe.

And seeing as i only have a Associates degree and if needed ill work on bachelors. It will be lowpaying and entry level.

No, believe it or not it is very hard to get fired or laid off from here as a salaried employee. Maybe that's part of the problem... more like I'm considering an exit strategy.

08-02-2005, 10:22 PM
And the exit strategy worked out... I'll be starting August 22 at Yahoo as a Product Manager. I'll be moving to California in the next couple weeks. See the for sale listing if you want my ContiExtremeContacts...

You can PM me that although I don't think Ford would say I have enough experience yet.
Thanks and I want those treads.

Hello, all, fellow car nut,
I'm new to the forum. Live in Macomb Twp, MI. Recently purchased a stock 03 Evo 8. Currently Great Lakes Mitsubishi in Livonia is installing some mods on my Evo. I work as a police officer for Westland Pd & the wife is a nurse. I look forward to going to a met if one is arranged. I also would like to go to a track day if one is set up this year or next, interested in seeing what the mods put out in the 1/4 mile.

The doctor who works in livonia did you just buy a MR EVO from great lakes and have them put the stage one package on it?

Current mods- full exhaust, intake, bov, ecu tuned, cams, 264 cam shafts, exhaust manifold, boost controller, upraged fuel pump, aftermarket intercooler piping, not sure what the boost is set at will find out monday.
Kurt email - wrxtrbo@hotmail.com use to have a 02 wrx with stage 4 pkg from turboxs.com... was fun while i had it...

Congrats and welcome.
I don't know if there are any other doctors in Livonia, but I have an office off of middelbelt and west chicago. My evo's there every M,W,F for the past year(04 model). I had the mods but on at buschur in ohio. Thats intersting that the dealer installed the mods, how friendly are they with warranty issues? Hope you enjoy you car.

Since you're a cop, see if they'll let you put a proper law enforcement light setup on it, that'd be badass.

Presently I am a middle-aged cable guy. Not as pitiful as it sounds, I get free cable, internet and phone service : ) and I never see a cubicle. I bought the EVO after an exhaustive search for the perfect car within my price-range. I wanted something that I could drive all-year-round in any type of weather. Something powerful and extremely sure-footed and reliable. I had preciously owned a Nissan Hardbody short-bed 4x4 and was spoiled rotten by its reliabillity. The thing NEVER had an issue in 12 years and 110,000 miles. It was unstoppable, but getting very worn.

It was either the EVO or the WRX STI. I found an 04 EVO for sale at a used car dealership in Southfield with 12K miles on it and bought it for 28 grand. I think I got a great deal.

regards,

Lesh

PS: I am presently waiting for a call from Godspeed about my car. I dropped it off this morning to get a turbo-back exhaust put on with the Greddy titanium sweetness. I will let you know how it goes.

"Thats intersting that the dealer installed the mods, how friendly are they with warranty issues? Hope you enjoy you car."

Well they have a big disclaimer on the receipt stating basically if anything goes wrong with the car because of the modifications they don't help/cover it.. my warranty is almost up anyways since my evo is a 2003 and has the old 36000 mile warranty.

"Since you're a cop, see if they'll let you put a proper law enforcement light setup on it, that'd be badass."

If they would let me, it would be sneaky/fun.. like troy's & garden cities... Z28 camaro's. Too bad police departments are stuck on american muscle cars...plus I get a ear full from co-workers as it is.. seems like to fit in you have to drive a big american pick-up truck...no thanks.
