*cringe* Every time I see a clip of that kind of thing it makes me think of how I'd feel if that were my car.

I got to feel that joy last summer at Gingerman  Joe can elaborate; I get all weepy just thinking about it.

so what exactly was your "error" if you don't mind talking about it?

I will do it for him. Coming around a bend in the middle of third gear he was coming up to a slalom and well I wuold say his entry speed was a little too quick. He rounded one cone and then was coming back the other way and his car took over and went up a steep hill hit a wall and then went backwards down the hill. His car wasn't too happy after that and need some control arms, new wheels, IC piping and new bumper cover. He was pissed off, but still always a cool guy and then they towed the car away back to Lansing for free for him. I am unsure of the lesson learned here, although racing is too fun, and the EVO is a very powerful car. Nobody was hurt, well besides how Ashlee felt about racing, but his heart is big so he is back out again this year.

ouch! I'm personally gonna stay away from autoX's with walls for my first few attempts just to be safe, not to mention playing lots of GT4 as practice.

I've been curious about this... who pays for your repairs when you crash during a race? Do you have to report to your insurance and then pay a deductible? Is there insurance for the day of? It's confusing. :?

All car repair is outta pocket. DO NOT alert your insurance; they'll raise your rates. If you're hurt, the SCCA will pay medical bills first, and then you insurance covers the rest.

Joe, thanks for the kind words. The lesson learned is that it's always better to take it easy when trying new things. There were two things that I wasn't used to when this happened:
1) High speed racing (middle of third vs. top of second)
2) Correcting a slide
Can't say I've had much more experience with the first, but the Detroit Solo II school helped me with the second. Hopefully my car will finish this season unscathed. And you can bet your ass I'll be trying road coarses again.

Glad to see that you're still around and playing with us :) I'll definitely stay away from walls, as well, and today showed me that I should look into take an AutoX class.
