Just thought I'd share...

You know you're from Michigan when...

1. You've never met any celebrities.

2. "Vacation" means going to Cedar Point.

3. At least 1 member of your family disowns you the week of the Michigan/Michigan State game.

4. Half the change in your pocket is Canadian.....eh!

5. You drive 86 mph on the highway and pass on the right.

6. A typical traffic jam consists of 2 cars waiting to pass an orange barrel @ 5mph, while 4000 others try to sqeeze into the space between them from a 90mph roll.

7. You know how to play (and pronounce) Euchre.

8. It's easy to get Vernors Ginger Ale, Sanders Hot Fudge sauce, and Faygo Pop.

9. You know how to pronounce "Mackinac."

10. You've had to switch on the "heat" and the "A/C" in the same day.

11. You bake with SODA and drink a POP.

12. The movie "Escanaba in Da Moonlight" wasn't funny. You consider it a documentary.

13. Your little league game was snowed out.

14. The word "thumb" has geographical, rather than anatomical significance.

15. You show people where you grew up by pointing to a spot on your left hand.

16. Traveling coast-to-coast means driving from Port Huron to Muskegon.

17. You measure distance in minutes.

18. When giving directions, you refer to "A Michigan Left" or "A Michigan U-turn."

19. You know that Kalamazoo not only exists, but isn't that far from Hell.

20. Your year has 2 seasons: Winter and Construction.

21. Home Depot on any Saturday is busier than toy stores at Christmas.

22. You know when it has rained because of the smell of worms.

23. Owning a Japanese car was a hangin' offense in your hometown.

24. You believe that "down south" means Toledo.

25. "South of the border" refers to Windsor, Canada.

Scary.

3 years ago, when I moved here, most of that wouldn't have made sense to me. Now most of it does.

Some still don't make sense to me, though, like 1, 5 (it's done everywhere in the country), 12 (never seen it), and 17.

Give me a few more years and I'll get it all.

Freaks. :D

when i moved here from texas i noticed:
-michiganders love country music more than texans
-some people from michigan do not know what a funnel cake is...they have only heard of "elephant ears"
-i have only seen texas longhorn cattle in michigan
-michigan people actually stop for yellow lights, texans drive like they're colorblind
-i've met way too many people in michigan that have never been on a plane, or have never even traveled that far
-and unfortunately, michigan is missing out on 2 awesome fast food chains: Chick-fil-a and Sonic

i still like michigan though. the winters are horrible, but the people are more laid back up here 8)

I think Sonic is coming, they've been playing commercials lately.

I miss Carl's Jr. and Jack in the Box :(

jack in the box :(
i also miss the millions of mexican/tex-mex restaurants and fastfood places like Taco Bueno

and at texas wendy's, they have the "Texas Double" cheeseburger on the .99cent menu...when i went to my first wendy's up here i asked for the texas double and the guy was like "huh?" then it hit me- a lot of things were going to change...

Hope Sonic is finally coming - until then, it's almost worth the 3-hr drive to the closest one...

Wife & I have looked into opening a Sonic franchise in this area, but Sonic doesn't seem to be in any hurry to open one in Michigan anytime soon: doesn't help that every city we approached was against a Sonic-type of place - without exception, every one cited concerns about "kind of patrons" that the business would attract (cruisers, younger drivers, loud music, etc, etc.)

Michigan is distinctly lacking in good mexican food. There was tons of it in Idaho. Many of the migrant workers would manage to open a restaurant in a crappy run down strip mall and make the BEST food.

Everything is BIGGER in Texas, I watched supersize ME and I didn't feel so bad, although Detroit is the fattest city in the US.
