I enjoy getting out to the GTA whenever I can. But Oakville is pretty far out of what I think of the GTA. But June 12th is a ways out but I will mark the calendar for this one.

Oakville is actually west of Toronto so it will be closer for you guys coming from the west. Lots of prices. Plus Rockstar status for those with EVO's

We still can't get the EVO's here in Canada.

^^ That pic is from the 04-23-05 MOD (Mitsubishi Owner Day) on the west coast. Wish we could be so lucky...
I'd love to go to this Canadian meet too, just have to talk wife into it. Convoy time... 8)
Drive to this meet should be a 3.5~4-hr drive from the border: you don't wanna get caught speeding in Canada, and you better leave your radar detector at home!! (I know plenty of people -myself included- who've been busted for just having a detector in Canada, even if it isn't on! My Canadian friends tell me that lots of the highway police are equipped with radar detector detectors!)

FYI, the wife heard about a new law starting soon REQUIRING peeps to have a passport to enter/exit Mexico/Canada. Old way of drivers license/birth certificate is on the outs. If people are serious about going to this, they might want to research it. I'd go but I have to mow the grass on Sundays
MitsuJoe
05-31-2005, 01:54 PM
Cut the grass? Come on...you gotta go!! It's cool, I understand obligations. Keep us posted if she lets you change your plans (whip).
My girl is the same way, if I have a plan it usually will not change for a car related event. Although there is always exceptions.
cut it on Friday? Or pay a kid on your block to cut it while yer in Canada!

I'd like to go but 350 miles one way is a bitch. And then to come back on the same day, ouch. How many peeps are going FOR SURE?
MitsuJoe
06-01-2005, 02:00 PM
It is 275 miles from me, I hear ya! I like to go to events that don't always involve racing. I figure I can use about two tanks of gas for this. It should be ok, so what the deal man, you still gotta cut the grass?

Fellas, why don't we do it college style and get a room a couple rooms and split 'em between a few people? I've slept on many a floor to save a few bucks.
I'll definately be there; we just need to work out the logistics.

My wife brought this up today & suggested that she'd prefer that I overnight. Got the whole spiel: "...It's gonna be a long day & you might be too tired / I'd be too worried with you driving back from Toronto at 10pm, etc., etc."
At first I was WTF - it's only a 4-hr trip!! (Used to do 12-19hr nonstops all the time to Florida, etc.) On second thought: it's great to have the significant other's permission, and it HAS been a while since I've been to Toronto...
So who all's going, and where you want to meet up with me on way to border?
MitsuJoe
06-02-2005, 09:16 AM
Want to go through Port Huron or Windsor? So you planning to stay overnight, it looks like if tabby comes she wants to stay there for a night.

My wife has got to throw a bacholerette party on Sat. Apparently she doesn't want to miss the male strippers. Sorry boys, I'm a no go. And no, I'm not staying home to see the strippers. Someone take pics! I know I'll be pissed if there is a huge turnout.

No prob. Why don't you work on some kazoo events.

I'll probably end up going. If a bunch of people go down the night before, I'll probably tag along and get a room.

Any thoughts on available hotels? I don't know what everyone else is up to, but I gotta go up Saturday. Anyone else down for that? We need to get this stuff figured out, and quick :!: :!: :!:
I'm down for Sat. night. Probably not till mid to late evening though... but I can compromise with ya if you want to leave earlier... I'd rather roll in a caravan than not.

Do you guys want a hotel close to the meet or close to the Downtown Toronto Area? Toronto is 25 Minutes east of the meet, pretty close. Let me know so I can look for a hotel or a motel for you guys.

I'm thinking close to downtown. If it's within walking distance of the clubs, that be sweet (no cab ride home  )

I was thinking late afternoon, since it takes a few hours to get there from Lansing. I'm not sure what time the night life starts, but if we get there around 9:00, we'd be good for checkin at the hotel, possibly a bite, and then clubbin. Is there a time change (or two)? That would make a dif.

I'll be needin' a room too. Would rather convoy & spend night than driving up Sunday morning. (Hey - can we get a AAA discount?)
Much as I'd like to, really don't know if I'll be up for 4-5 hours of clubbin' - right arm is still in a cast, am limping from a leg injury, and got yet another surgery tomorrow... Ah, the joys of getting older...
BTW - eatonjb told me he might be interested in driving up Sunday & wondered if anyone else was willing to convoy with him for a day trip.

Hi Guys,
On behalf of MCCC, its Crew and members, I would like to thank you for your presence in the event. The event was a success, and hopefully you guys can come again on our next event. I hope you guys had a fun stay here in Toronto. Everyone else here was happy to see you guys. Ashley thanks for the ride. Maybe next time I can show you, around more, in the Asians malls where you can get cheap aftermarket stuff.
Thanks

Thanks Emil - Glad I went!! We'll all have to come up earlier / stay for longer next time.
This was the first time I've ever seen so many Lancers together in the same place & and done up so many different ways. Kinda like when Evos get together here: you won't find any two that are done identically...)
Next time I'm up your way, I'll have to let you drive my car (so you have a baseline 'stock Evo' to reference against, ya know. But really: I hope to have at least started modding by then!)

Fellas, the pics are up in the photo section. And a big thanks to Emil for inviting us to the meet. I think it's safe to say that we all had a great time, and we'd love to get back up there. Any chance of moving Toronto a bit closer?
no shit... closer would be nice, but the amount of attention we received, and the special accomodations provided by MCCC and Emil especially made this an awesome trip. It was quite a sight for many people on the HWY seeing three yellow "What the hells" flying by them at 140+ (kph) See my pics below. For some reason the gallery was telling me that the files were invalid.
