Most have you have probably seen info about this on EvoM. Is anyone here considering going? I'm kicking around the idea of getting a weekend off and going out there.

More info here - http://forums.evolutionm.net/showthread.php?t=127577

I had seen that. not sure if it looks like it is worth the drive.
if we went as a club, it could be a good outing :?:

hell yea, depending on when it is, I'd be down for the drive as long as some other Evos/Lancers were in a pack with me.

The organizer just announced that he's secured an airport runway for the day of the show so there can be racing and such, only about 3 miles from the show. Is it worth it now? :D

Here's the announcement he made today:

Ok, we now have lift off. i secured a ramp at the local airport for some events. its 3 miles or so from the car show area. the food/ drinks stay at the office (car show area on the grass) at we can convoy to the airport for events. i was thinking we will have 3 events, timed and, a trophy for the winners of the events.

event 1: 0-100-0 mph

( this will still work with larger rims, we will be using a police radar gun, and a car in the distance will flash on their headlights once you reached 100mph.......thats when you brake!

event 2: strait line slalom course (timed not speed)

event 3: "coned" race course. timed over 3 laps.

of course there are trophies for other classes, last year i gave out 19 trophies, along with prizes. please pm me on how many are comming and typees of cars. i have to order the food and plan on how long i need the airport. the dates are either April 23rd or may 14th. if you have plans those days....CANCEL THEM!!!!

Sounds worth it to me! Please don't make me drive all that way by myself!! I still need to make sure these dates work for me, so not 100% sure, but free is a great price!

If they do the April date then there's no way I can go :( Too close to time off that I'm finishing up right now.

Looks like the date is set for May 7th. I'm going to check in with work this weekend and see if I can get that Saturday off. If I can, I'm going to make this a one day deal for me (leave at 6am for the 4-5 hour drive, then drive back that night.) Yeah, I'm kinda masochistic that way, but getting the whole weekend off isn't feasible.

Does this sound good to anyone else?

All sorted out at work, so I'm definitely going.

Are you driving out Saturday morning or Friday night?

I'll give this one last try. With the Midland AutoX and the Xceed BBQ on the same day, it's pretty likely I'm on my own to spread the miEvo love in the south. ;)

Sorry for the late reply. I was without internet all weekend. Comcast accidentally disconnected our cable and internet while reconnecting our neighbor's.

I'm pretty sure I can go. There is a small chance I will have to back out, but I'm thinking it will be OK. I'm not sure if I'd leave Friday night or Sat morning... when were you thinking of driving down? I may have at least one friend riding with me.

I'm thinking Saturday morning. Rather sleep in my own bed and get up earlier. The time difference is in our favor, so I figure if I leave AA by 6am I'll get there right around 9am CST. They're asking people to try to be there by 10 for the tech inspections and drivers meeting.

Hit me up on AIM (thruggy)

This Evo driver and Rob (Otter) did pretty good I'd say. I'll let Rob elaborate on the Trophy he took home. Congrats again  . It was cool to meet you and fun hangin with ya.

My Evo: First time ever autox-ing and I gotta say I am definitely hooked for life, or as long as I have legs, well if I can get a handicap conversion done on an Evo I'd autox with no legs, but you get my point.

I ran a 32.170 which was good enough for 2nd in my class. Got beat by a blue Evo GSR by a couple tenths. There were like 8-9 cars in the AWD turbo modded with a couple evos behind me and some wrx's. I improved drastically on my first three runs and took 2nd, then lost it and got it back in my 4th and final run. Guess my GT4 addiction has paid off. I drive an Evo in that game whenever I can get away with it, but there is nothing like the addrenaline rush of feeling real G forces and driving your own car around a track. I will definitely be at some more events.

That is sweet Ryan, I knew you would love AutoX. Even if your not the fastest that begins not to matter because there are not many batter ways to have fun with the EVO. Did you get any pictures? If you did post them under the Events\Indy in the Photo Gallery, that would be awesome.

I got some pics, but too tired to post them tonight, except for one...

Had a great time hanging out with Ryan and meeting other EvoM folks. Definitely love the AutoX goodness :)
