sign me up. Only concern is that this is on a Sunday (a good day for me) but it is also their busiest day.

Well if its busy then you know the food is always fresh.

Ryan

once we know how many people to expect, maybe they will reserve some tables for us... that'd be cool.

MitsuJoe
03-08-2005, 06:00 PM
Yeah I have to give them a few days notice.

I'd like to be there. Have to check with the wife and I'll get back to you guys. I check with her today. I also hope the weather is good. We still get some snow in April which sucks!

At this point no, weekends are generally not doable for me. However, should I somehow end up with that Sunday off, I'll let ya'll know and I'll definitely come.

Ryan
03-09-2005, 02:40 PM
don't hate me, but I'm actually hoping to get some more snow before I change my tires back to summer tires!

MitsuJoe
03-09-2005, 03:29 PM
Well there is a long time between now and then and I agree with ya, I need to give my snowies one last beating before I toss them. Hopefully is comes after this Sunday and before the end of the month. Knowing Michigan though it will snow in April.

looks like I should be there.
just a couple of questions...
hows the food?
and, not to sound like a d**k, but how old are you guys?
I'm 31 and wanted to have an idea if we would have anything other than our EVO's in common. :)

Ryan
03-10-2005, 05:32 PM
the food's great at any mongolian BBQ. You put together your own stir fry. So if you don't like it, it's your fault. If we go for lunch it will be all you can eat and you can simply throw away anything you don't like. they also have great beers including a seasonal Bell's usually.

BTW, I started another thread about our ages...

slim1974
03-12-2005, 12:49 AM
well, if the food is good and the beer is cold, I don't see any reason not to go. :D

is this going to be a family friendly event or should I leave my son with his grandparents?

MitsuJoe
03-12-2005, 12:53 AM
I don't see any reason why your son could not accompany you. I don't plan that anyone invited or coming should make it for an uncomfortable family outing. If he is too young though it may not be the most fun for him...you catch my drift.

slim1974
03-12-2005, 01:10 AM
I guess what I was trying to ask is if anyone thought about going to a bar or club or whatever after we eat

MitsuJoe
03-12-2005, 09:15 AM
Ahh I see, that is optional I would say. SO don't count on that, if you have to leave after BBQ for that reason I wouldn't feel bad about it.

slim1974
03-13-2005, 12:36 AM
if I'm driving to lansing, I'm gonna have to hit some bars or something
I can't see driving that far just for some chinese
I know its about the get together , but my wifes japanese so I gotta eat oriental all the time

MitsuJoe
03-13-2005, 12:52 AM
well BW's is a good bar for some beer and wings, if I don't stuff myself at the BBQ then maybe we can cruise over there

Ryan
03-14-2005, 11:22 AM
making it out and introducing yourself would be the main Idea. Even if you have a kid with ya, it'd still be cool. I don't have my son on Sundays, which is good cuz he is in his terrible twos and would not be so pleasant

slim1974
03-15-2005, 03:06 AM
heck ,thats when they're the most fun, wait till he can kick your a** at video games.
I'll probably leave him with the grandparents, thats if my wife wants to go.

As far as other than having our EVO's in common I think this is a good time to break the ice and see what things we have in common. Lansing is a great central place to meet up too. Also MI3SI is planning an event here today so to say the least some of those guys are older and this would give us a great opportunity to talk to some of those very knowledgable guys.

Sadly I can't make it, I had already made plans to go to the CCM Autocross that day, and forgot what date the race was...

Sorry, hope to meet you all at a later time...

By popular demand I have been asked to move the BBQ time back to 4PM because of the DCSCC AutoX that is on the same day. How does 4PM sound, that way you can still come to the event here in lansing and go to the AutoX if you like!

cocoabro
04-04-2005, 02:37 PM
4:00pm is sweet  I too forgot about the AutoX. I'll catch up with you guys shortly afterwards.
By the way, only one spot for me at lunch; the boss has prior engagements.

I will see if I can make it.

I assume this is the one in Okemos?

MitsuJoe

Yes Okemos! Sorry I should not have put East Lansing.

I'm still trying to talk "THE BOSS" into it. Wife is reluctant to go, says she'd feel out of place - she doesn't think she'll have anything in common with anyone else: she's not into cars all that much, other than the thrill of riding in something of the Evo's caliber. I'd rather not 'disappear' for most of a day (possibly 8-10 hours?) - I'm not comfortable leaving my wife & 2-week old baby girl alone for that long, with me so far away!

I'm open for suggestions on how to 'sweet-talk' her into coming along. Anyone???

MitsuJoe
04-06-2005, 12:42 AM
Well how far is Okemos/Lansing from you? If you only want to stay an hour or two that would be fine. I would rather have you around for some rather than not at all. My fiance' and your wife are very similar, although without the baby of course. I would like to think that this event would be more than say her going to a AutoX. We will have the opportunity to chat about what we do, where we live, our lifes(if we want) and anything else thats interesting, it could even be interior design. Ok now I'm taking this too far, I don't want to be sexist here... 8)

Feel free to tell her that you don't have to stay if she is really really bored. There is not a ton planned although I thought we could also talk about future events too. Maybe this helps?

EvoGLH
04-06-2005, 12:59 AM
Theoretically, Okemos is 1.5 hrs from me (Roseville, I-696 & I-94 area.)

Anyone into dog shows, dog training, etc.?
Especially regarding UKC (United Kennel Club) and/or purebred American Pit Bull terriers - That would be virtually guaranteed to get her there!

I swear - this baby's makin' me lose brain cells...

i dunno if i should bring my piddly little lancer back to the old stomping grounds or not. but maybe my lack of flashiness would keep me safe from ticket-city. :)

Would like to come too but not sure if I can make it. Wife and I just ate at Mongolian BBQ last Sunday at 4 and it was packed. Hope they have room. Would love to meet everyone so I'll try to swing by. Don't feel bad about your wife as mine is not into cars and hates the fact I am and spend all that money on the Evo.

Somebody say 'convoy'? YES!

Wife is 98% to saying yes, but demands that travel be kept to posted/reasonable speed (Duh! Of course - kids'll be in car too!), and would prefer to NOT be outnumbered 6 to 1 by "...a bunch of guys talking about their Evos..."

Ran across another Evo tonite on Gratiot: slightly modded BBY with 'ITSAEVO' plate, owned by a 'Cameron'; said he recently moved & isn't on boards yet 'cause doesn't have internet access. He told me that there are 2 more BBY's that regularly stalk Gratiot.

I'm sure I'll see him again real soon...

Awesome pictures, we had a total of 7 EVO's and one Ralliart and also a 3000GT 99 SL show up. I swear you could eat off the 3kgt engine bay.

The meet was authentic and really will help this organization start off on the right feet. We plan to have some more events such as:
1. Woodward cruise
2. Drag day probably Milan or Lapeer
3. Gingerman test and tune
4. Possibly Gratan OR Waterford course
5. One of the AutoX events at the silverdome
6. A mid July summer BBQ possibly on the west side of the state
7. A weekday meet at another restaurant sometime in May
8. A dyno day at a shop somewhere in Michigan

Who knows what else...

Also if you wanted a decal please contact me via PM with your address and what your after and I will get it out ASAP. Thank you everyone who came and anyone that didn't you better make it next time.
