Thanks to Otter and Smike for the advice via the forum regarding this project!

This is Tenshi, MikSchultzy's ball and chain. Wanted to show you guys what I did for him for christmas -- please move the thread if this belongs elsewhere.

Wandering around down here in a mall, I found a KB Toys that was closing out. I had been shopping with Mike for our son, but I saw this little beaut poking its nose out of the employee lounge and immediately hammered the manager about purchasing it. He gave it to me for all of $20, since it had been a floor model and was pretty scuffed up.

SMike said "Nooo leave it like it is!" and Otter said, "heck... go for it." and I was leaning towards going ahead with the project, so... (SorrY Mike <3)

Off we go! Detach the chassis, get those ugly stickers off and wet sand the body. (My aching shoulders!)

Yeah, I kind of shredded the stickers. Whatever. Didn't need them any more.

Testors was the paint of choice, bought it at both Michael's and Hobby Lobby... Hobby Lobby carried a larger range of colors.

1st coat!

Masking for the stripe!! Eek. What a pain... I was so afraid I was going to royally eff it up.

After the paint dried... front end of the stripe.

Back end of the car -- and the infamous dashing at the end of the stripe.
At this point, I was beginning to really give those rims the stink-eye because they stood out like a sore thumb. I ended up painting them black this afternoon (I finished this project in 4 days) because they just looked terrible.

Arse shot - no emblems, just like Mik's.

Front End shot - kept a few of the stickers on because the detailing was just nice on them, and better than I could do.

I took a video to capture the noises the car makes (I made a SERIOUS gamble on this car, buying it for such a low amount out of box and then not running it until TODAY... after I had painted it!) ...it's cute, for a toy car. Mik seems to like it.

Anyway, it's a good project.

Mike should like that sputter sound ;)

Actually, looks good. Job well done!

Actually.....

The car is really really cool. It looks more like a EVO VII than an VIII - but I'm not going to complain! The power of it leaves alittle to be desired (of course) as it is electric. I have found a little RC shop though, that's about 20 minutes from here that I hope can find me some guts that would give me something that's got some unf to it. :) If not that, something that would let me give the current setup some gonads. bwaha

I think Otter pegged it as a VII when I first showed it to him. I contemplated figuring out how to mold a new wing, but considering I was crunched for time I didn't delve into it much.

Yeah... Mike's got a new toy to tinker with, I think.

Hon, you should see if you can find a chrome tailpipe add-on.

Man... don't ask me where that car is manufactured from either... I looked all over the body for markings but found none. Searched the KB Toys website - nothing. Google? Nothing similar.

Yargh.

Nice job.

Looks to be 1:16 scale, same size as 2 of my RC Evos. I haven't been able to find one of these local - it'd go great with the rest of my RC Evo collection, even though my wife was ROFL about the sound effects.

Any decent hobby/RC shop should be able to give you advice on upgrading the motor/batteries without it being too much hassle, but it'll cost more than $20.

Dunno too much 'bout this RC car: IIRC, it's a scale version of Panizzi's Mitsubishi Lancer WRC 2005, manufactured by a company called Silverlit.
