Where are the miles that are shown on the odometer stored?
Are they stored on in the instrument panel, or are they stored somewhere else (like the ECU)?
Thanks.

Odometer values are stored on a chip which is located on the instrument gauge cluster itself.

I posted a thread on EVOm a while back and was deleted IMMEDIATELY...I still want to know if it's possible though...

If what's possible?

If there was a way to disconnect the odo, or alter it.
And yes, a MODERATOR WILL delete a thread or post on the spot if they don't like it.

I only posted this because I wanted to get a OZ instrument panel and install it in my car. I wanted to know if the odometer is stored on the gauge or on the ECU. The wiring diagram for the instrument panel doesn't really give an answer to that question.

Yeah, we're jerks like that.
Basically, if you swap in a cluster from another car, you'll inherit that other car's mileage. I'm sure there's some computer whiz way of interupting the signal or reflashing the odo. chip.

EvoM deleted a post about illegal activity? I wonder why...and it almosts exists here. I just turn my head and look the other way.
