OK guys and gals, we got the registration page ready for our next track day. We have put the deposit down with Grattan for FRIDAY July 28th. Our event last week went very well even in the rain, so we decided to have another one. Here are the basic details:

-$135 for about 2 hours of track time (non-refundable)
-Helmet is required
-Lunch will be included this time (hence the higher price)
-4 groups of cars based on experience and vehicle
-passengers are allowed with a helmet
-we will be camping out the night before

For more detailed information and to register, check out the website:

http://events.kzoorice.com

PS A few words about the website. We are in the process of moving the website to a dedicated domain name. I will update the link when that happens. We are trying to make the registration process as easy as possible. We have created a new email (boracing@comcast.net) that all 3 of us have access to (the organizers) so we can answer questions faster.

wow, no one here is interested in racing Grattan? I see there a big group going to Gingerman. If you havn't tried Grattan, you need to. Road and track once called it a mini Nurburg Ring. Grattan has a 160deg hairpin, a 1/2 mile straight, the banked toiletbowl, off camber turns, the S's, the bling corners! Who's ready to come out with us!

The best I can do right now is a "MAYBE". I'm doing a Gingerman Test & Tune this week. Then I've got the West Michigan Honda event at Gingerman on July 10th. I've only been to Grattan once with my SE-R, and it was a little scary with all of the elevation changes. But I'd like to get the Evo there and see how it does... especially since Grattan is only like 20 minutes from my house! :D

When or is there a the deadline to sign up?

I'm another maybe, too early to make the decision.

Glad there is interest!

No real deadline. It's a first come, first serve basis. we'll limit it to 44 or 48 cars to keep traffic to a minimum. If your worries about the elevation changes, this might be a good time to get comfortable and have some fun since it won't be packed with cars. We're having 4 run groups. So you can expect only 10-12 cars on the track at once. Nice and safe.

This would be a good time. I would like to think about this and be a maybe also. How many have signed up thus far?

There's a list of currently registered cars on the "KZooRice/3ballsracing" site here:

I'm still in the maybe column, just have to nudge the wifey. :)

Thanks for posting the link. That's also the link to register for when you pull yourself out of the maybe column and dive right in. I know, Pending wifey approval is always a tough... :)

i've always wanted to go out to Grattan, so i may be interested if i can get time off work. what groups will you have? i'm intermiate but want to start in a beginner or novice group to learn the track at slow speed before i go ballz out.

Paluce
06-12-2006, 11:26 AM
There will be a beginner group, an intermediate group, and an advanced group for sure. we'll have a 4th group depending on how many people of each experience level sign up. Last time we had a beginner group w/small cars, beginner w/larger/faster cars, intermediate and advanced groups.

We allow everyone to move groups so that they are driving in whatever group they feel most comfortable with. So it's not a problem to start in the beginner group, and move up when your comfortable.

Will they be charging to get into the track and for each guest at the gates?

Don't be scared. They have a beginner group for a reason. That is where I will probably be. I need to plan by next month out as to see how much $$ I need to prepare.

There's no cost to get in for either the driver/car, or any amount of guests. Everyone's welcome. So you shouldn't need more than the regestration fee and a bit for gas. We're also camping the night before outside turn 1 so that's free too. Oh, lunch is provided aswell. Sign up! :D

I thought it went pretty well. I'll start with the bad:

- Tech was lacking... oh wait, there was no tech. :)
- Flag rules were non-standard and confusing (what does it mean when a corner worker is holding a yellow flag AND the blue/yellow stripe flag at the same time? Caution ahead but let someone pass?)
- Rained in the afternoon, but not til like ~3 ish
- I only ran a 1:38, which I'm not satisfied with, but I guess is OK for a bone stock '05 VIII

Now for the good:
- People were very cool, event the 'American muscle' guys
- Lunch was included, which was a first for any track event I've been to
- Everything went smoothly (no idiots doing anything really stupid)
- I love how the Evo did at Grattan, and I'll definitely be going back

Overall I had a good time. Since the event had to be rescheduled they're also offering another day at a discounted price in September.

John the autox is on Labor day at Grattan. Should be a good time if they can get the F***in timing lights to work! I will probably go again this year.

I don't support any WMR events. I have no problem them being talked about on here although I have my personal aspirations for this group. The eastern side of the state is better anyways for AutoX...no offense meant.

Hey RedV,

Thanks for coming even with the sudden day change. I think everyone had a good time. All the feedback I got so far has been really positive.

For the Sept 30th event, you're the only lucky one in the forum. You get the discounted rate since you came on the 27th. We're offering that to you because of the inconvience and as a "thanks for coming a day early and having 3ballsracing loose their shirts!".
For everyone one else it's the standard $135 for the day including the pizza lunch. I think $135 with lunch is cheaper than any other track day like this anyway.

Hey, how did you get your times? was someone timing you, or was it through a video camera, or did you bring something else?

RedV
08-05-2006, 08:21 AM
Paluce,

Yeah, it was a good time. I'll have to let you know about the September date. I've already gone way over my track day budget for the year. :) But I'll see if I can find some spare $.

The times were just by my friend with a stop watch, so they're not %100 accurate. Sometimes I get suspicious that my friend ups them a couple seconds so I don't beat his time. :) I'd like to get a camera mount and/or some timing equipment, but again more $ that I'd have to try and get by the wifey. :)

Thanks again for a great event and maybe I'll see ya in Sept.
