Just to let everyone know, I'm planning on going to an open track day at Gingerman.
When: Thursday June 1st
Where: Gingerman (South Haven, MI)
I'm going with a group of guys from work. I believe the session starts at 5 or 5:30, so we plan to leave work (Southfield) at 2 or 2:30. If anyone is interested in joining us let me know, or see you out at the track!

This will be my first time to Gingerman.
I believe it is $60 for 5:30pm till dark
Talking with the other guys who have gone before, they average around 50 laps. One guy in particular usually goes through almost 2 tanks of gas.

Here's what they have on the website
http://www.gingermanraceway.com/
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OPEN TRACK, Test and Tune, every Tuesday through Thursday** 5:30pm-8:30, $60 per driver, some Fridays also apply. Novice, amateur and pro racers are welcome, see you soon
All Evening Test & Tune are for cars only, unless specified differently in the schedule.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DOT or Snell certified helmet required
Convertible vehicles must have rollbar or rollover protection 3) Previous track driving experience is required.
I'm MAYBE gonna do this. I want to get the Evo on Gingerman just to see how it compares to my previous car ('03 SE-R). And Gingerman is such a safe track, I figure it's a good place to start seeing how the Evo handles. Are there any other Evo ppl from my side of the state that might wanna go?
I'm thinking I'm either gonna do this evening test and tune, or according to Gingerman's calendar online there's a full day open track event the day before (May 31st) that I might see if I can still get in on.
BAH! It looks like Gingerman has cancelled their evening test and tune on the 1st of June. The schedule on their site now says "Open Track All Day (Bikes)". I think this was what ppl on here were planning on going to. It looks like the next test & tune night is the 7th of June, so I might be thinking of going to that instead.

A friend at work called to ask about that and the bikes are only during the day. The 5:30-8:30 test and tune is still on.
I just called to confirm, and the gentleman that I spoke with said the same thing.
So looks like we're still on!
That's good news. As of right now I'm waiting on my Hawk pads. I'm thinking if I get my pads on time that I'll be able to make this test and tune. I really don't want to run on my stock pads. I've also got another friend (ShiftySVT from the Evolutionm.net forum, not sure if he's on here or not) from the G.R. area that may be going. He's not going to run, but he's a new Evo owner as well.
Hopefully the weather will be decent! 8)

I am on-call all that week and that means I am rolling the streets from sun up to sundown taking care of valued customers.

I'm planning on going, but I'm going to sit this one out. I want to take it easy on my almost new Evo. I've been there several times with my Focus SVT, so I look forward to seeing how the Evo compares.

Whoever is serious about going, please PM me.
It was good to meet a couple of other Evo ppl at the test & tune at Gingerman yesterday evening. It was a perfect night for the track! Although I was a little surprised at how lax the rules were; People ignoring the blend line, go out in all run groups, etc.
It was my first time at Gingerman with the Evo, and I was impressed with how safe and neutral the Evo felt compared to my previous car (SE-R).
If anyone has any pics or video from yesterday let me know!

Hey Walt, that was a really awesome way to start off the first year with the evo! Maybe next time I can run with the intermediate crowd and see if I could keep up with your skills.
It was a pretty crowded night. From what I here there usually aren't that many people. That was my first time at Gingerman, but definilty not the last.
Anyway I didn't realize that I had my camera till later on in the afternoon, so I couldn't get a lot of pics. I'll check with the other guys from work and see if I could check out everyone else's pics.
Oh, I do have a pretty funny pic though. Only shows how smart subaru owners really are.
LOL... I'm sure he'll appreciate you posting up that pic. :)
I'm tempted to post it up on xceedspeed under "Here's proof that only lesbos and hicks drive Suby's". :) I suppose I better not do that and piss off the whole Suby community though. Little does he know that we can spot his fake STI a mile away. It had the bug-eye headlights, so it's not an STI. I didn't think his car seemed fast enough for an STI. :)
The other event that I'm signed up for at Gingerman thus far is the West Michigan Honda Meet. Here's more info...

Definitely let me know if you're gonna head over for another test & tune though. It was a lot of fun. :D

Do you know him? I wasn't even sure if he ran. He might've been with your group. Anyway, I was parked behind him so I didn't notice the bug eyes in front.
Maybe that is the proper jacking point :?

I should also mention Shifty came out there to hang out.
It was nice talking to you. Did you get a chance to ride with RedV? If we would've gotten more heats in I would've offered. Maybe next time you can ride, or hopefully race :D

Yeah, I got a ride with RedV. It was a blast! ...definitely a fun night. Does anyone know who owned the 2 silver Evo's? I never got a chance to talk to them.
BTW, that guys w/ the wrx was uncorking his exhaust, which is why it was so loud. I also heard that it's running rear wheels only because something in his driveline broke and it was easier/cheaper just to make it RWD.

That's me in your silver evo pic. So you were the black evo or the white IX MR? I don't see any sparks from the rear wheel, so obviously that was early in the evening before my rear pads wore down to the metal. BTW, Delomer I thought I told you to change those out for me... :D
I had a blast also as usual - It was killing me that the day ended with only 3 sessions out on the track. So many sweet rides were there to get into and just not enough daylight. Hopefully next time will be a lot less of crowd like it usually is.
BTW, not only is that fake STi owner an idiot for jacking on his plastic rocker panel but he's the guy who cut off the vette entering the track and got ME black flagged for it. (apparently it's enough of an evo knock-off be confusing to the track worker). Dummass cost me a couple of laps.
Look forward to the next time out!
I was the black VIII running in the intermediate group. Didn't get a chance to talk to ya, but hopefully I'll get a chance to go a couple more test & tune's this season and maybe I'll run into ya there.
So YOU got black flagged for that idiot? Did they realize their mistake? I think that was just as my friend and I were packing up and getting ready to leave. Seems like there were a few people that needed to be black flagged (people running in any run group they feel like, that blend line incident, etc). And then there was the blue WRX that seemed like it was on just springs for a suspension it was all over the place in front of me. And then put on his turn signal trying to tell me to pass him mid-corner. Ugh... do a HPDE event ppl and get some good instruction before you just go to a test & tune.
Sorry for the RANT. :) At least all the Evo ppl there seemed to know what they were doing.

LOL! Was it the newer WRX? or the older one? Both were guys from work. The newer one was driven by one of the Japanese guys who has a Denso sponsored race car back home, so it proabably isn't him. The other guy hasn't had time to work on his car cause he's just coming off crutches, so I wouldn't be surprised if that thing would've fallen apart on the track.
Dave, I see you found your log in password. I started to do your rear pads, but you said they were good. I probably forgot to put that one pin back, hence the sparking. LOL! jk! :P
It was a little bit older one, it just looked like his car had TONS of body roll in the corners. And it seemed like his tires weren't giving him any grip at all.
I feel a little bad if he hasn't been up to working on his car, but he really should have been in beginner if he knew his car wasn't up to running all out. And turn signals to pass in the corners?
Anyways... definitely let me know if you're getting together for another Test & Tune night! :)

let me know if people are interested in another test and tune @ Gingerman. I'd like to do that a few times this year and it's always fun to go in a group.
