I got this radar detector as a gift almost 4 years ago, and it still works great. It picks up K and Ka band very well from the front, and decently from the rear. Also picks up X band, V band (not sure who uses that...it only went off on this mode a few times in random spots), and laser, although the laser pickup isn't 100% reliable. In the past 4 years I have only received one ticket for speeding (even though I do it anytime I drive) and that was from a laser gun that didn't register until it was too late. It has picked up every active radar using police car I have come across in the past 4 years, and picks up from a very good distance, too. It also picks up radar from behind, but from a lesser distance. I am only selling this unit because I have upgraded to a Valentine 1. These go for around $100 new, and I'm asking for $50. The unit itself is in very good condition with a few scratches on the bottom sides. Comes with suction cup window mount and Cigarette lighter power cord. I can do that, some detector is better than none.

Although I recommend for you the Passport 8500 X50 over the V1. The V1 has not chnaged in 10+ years and you can't tell me that radar/laser has not changed. I have heard great things about this detector and would suggest this one.

Already got the V1, and to the best of my knowledge they have updated the system pretty recently. It works great...a little hard to get used to (since i've been conditioning myself to the noises of the Cobra for the last 4 years) but from what I can tell it's a great unit.

If you want to make that deal, I'll consider it sold...and I'll let you know once the suspension gets in (like a month or so)

Consider it sold. When can I get it? Where are you at right now (in Michigan?)

Midland...at home :P LOL. You can get it any time as long as you help me get the suspesion on and sorta set up...deal? Hopefully I can get Jarrod to help out too on the settings.

Hold on Joe...something just came up and I'm not going to be able to afford the coilover setup this season...just won't be able to do it. So, instead, I'm going to get the sway bar/spring combo (hopefully the one for sale a few threads down). So could you install the springs for me for the radar detector?

Deal. Either way I know what I have to tear apart!

Sweet. I'll let you know when the suspension stuff comes in...I can do the sway bar myself, but I'm not going to touch the springs...not the first time anyway

you speeders.... jk

you guys know that most radars now a days have a kill switch or hold button... right?....meaning we push a button the radar shuts off push the button again and turns back on...so when no cars are coming you push the hold button as soon as you get in range we push the hold button again..and we have you..of course the radar dector will be going off like mad but your already hit/caught... most cops that i talk too have the attitude if they see a radar dector when your stopped..your getting a ticket.. just my opinion..good luck guys..

I think many cops might be too lazy to use that button. ;) However, IMO, laser detection is pointless. By the time it's detected, you can be 90% sure that it's pointed at you.

That's very true...BUT sometimes you'll get a stray beam from the cars ahead of you (same with the radar toggle) and you can be warned...most of the times probably not LOL I CAN say, however, that since I have had this radar detector (the Cobra) I have only encountered 2 lasers...both were picked up, but one was too late.

IMHO it is better than having nothing. It only acts as a guide. Very seldom do I actually need it.
